Hey S2k5, someone on SSS posted these super 2 service dates:

Fulmer: July 5

Lopez: July 7

Giolito: July 13

Moncada: July 18

Little earlier than you posted last night in the minors forum. Are those accurate?

There is no specific date for a player to avoid super 2 status. Between the second and third year of service, if the player is in the top 22% of service time, they are deemed super 2.

Based on the past couple years, moncada should avoid it by being called up after July 3. Could wait longer to be safe.

Lopez should avoid it if hes called up after July 16.

Those numbers you posted don't make sense since Lopez has more service time than Moncada.

This link should be helpful. Link

Sorry this isn't really applicable to the thread topic.

As was said previously it isn't a set date because it is based on a percentage of players service time, so it is a guess, Apparently it has been a little earlier than I remember, but in the cases of each of our players, because they had service time last year, you would need to add whatever service time they had last year on to the date. So if the date is June 1, a guy like Moncada would be 31 days after that because of their service last year. Lopez had 44 days, so he would be about two weeks later. It looks like based on the latest day, Moncada should be clear somewhere around the 4th of July, while Lopez would be around the 3rd week of July. Giolito has 39 days of service, while Fulmer has 33 days.

Sorry to derail the thread, I understand the mechanics I'm just too lazy to do the math or google someone who has. Which makes no sense I realize as I've already spent more time than that would take responding in this thread.

Anyways, carry on. Some great explanations of Super 2 for those not in the know that were linked.

No matter what the dates are when we see some prospects depends on who gets traded. Gaps on the roster should mean prospects get called up. If Q and some relievers get traded we'll probably see Lopez for starts and others for the bullpen .
