You can tell which of my bets have juice because they deviate from the normal lines. Most books have lines that start at -110 for both or -115. If you have a bookie that has reduced juice, you may get some lines that start at -105 or lower. Very rarely are you going to get even lines on a spread. The objective of the bookie is to make money. They will anticipate 50% of the bets for the favorite and 50% for the underdog. For example, say we both bet on some NFL Championship game action on Sunday. Jags are +7.5, and the Patriots are -7.5. Both lines will be at -110. You bet $110 to win $100 on the Jags at +7.5 and I bet -7.5 for the Pats $110 to win $100. One of us will win obviously so there is $220 in total bets. You win the bet and win you $100 for the bet and your $110 wager gets returned for a total of $210. I lose my $110 and that is used to pay you, but where does that extra $10 go? To the bookie of course. The bookie cannot make money on even lines that is $100 to win $100 because there is no juice. They are just praying you lose your bet so they can gobble up your cash. Caps vs Devils O 5.5 -105 K Kanepi vrs C Suarez Navarro O 21 -123 The book set the line on both of these, but on one you're paying 5% and the other its 23%.

Yes but you only pay if you lose so the example here is the -105 for the over had reduced juice but the under was where the money was at, -115. The lines start at -110 so you can see how they were skewed. -123 started at -115, so the U 21 would be at -107 because the money was going for the O pretty heavily.

So instead of moving the line, the vig changes, that makes more sense now.
