We are making the Postal Service make such deep cuts that they can barely function, while the biggest elective spending area (military) is just hemorrhaging cash. Not to mention the control factor here and the potential for all manner of fraud and rogue spending when there is no control.

That's reason number one they are so "patriotic." And reasons 2, 3, and 4.
