IMO its a realistic finish. However, I think if everything goes right we will finish much better.

I think everyone around baseball are increasingly seeing the Sox as a legitimate threat and a competitive team, but not necessarily a contending team quite yet. I like it, gives the boys some motivation to go out there and prove them all wrong and come out on top as the underdogs.

Teams don't come out of rebuilds and immediately get pegged for 90 some wins. I don't understand why there is a set of people that are upset or surprised about this projection.

Also, we are bringing in 5 new starters and 2 new pitchers early in the season. Add in Kopech to the rotation, Rodon to bullpen, and trade deadline improvements and we are in great shape. The fact that we will have no rally killing automatic outs in our lineup, automatic pitching losses, or an implosive bullpen, gives us a great shot to win 90 games.

I'm totally fine with this projection. The Sox have such a wide swath for what could happen next year. Anywhere between 70 and 100 wins won't surprise me a whole lot.
