Backman Interviews for White Sox Post

Featured Replies

I thought candidates weren't supposed to be talking about their interviews? :bang

nothing was said that would be out of line -

The problem is nothing is supposed to be said.

I don't know much about Backman. Can somebody that does tell me if he would make a good manager?

He would make a good manager....he was named the best managerial candiate in his league(I believe the Southern league is its name), and he took a Birmingham team to the playoffs two straight years, last year, when he won it, and this year(not sure the result....they did make it this year, didn't they), and though I'm not sure how it turned out, I know they had very, very little offense on the team. They did have Neal Cotts and Enemencio Pacheco, who were lights out this year.

He won't get it though....in fact, he is probably going to be coaching in a different organization next year, and he can thank only himself for that one.

Backman's chances at getting the job, slim and none.

for the past few seasons a candidate saying "I was interviewed" or even "I want the job" is no thing at all - this is hardly the first time an interviewee has said what Backman has said

but I suspect strongly now that is chances are nil

His chances were slim to nil when that article in BA came out. I think we will end up with Ozzie.

OZZIE! OZZIE! OZZIE!

Is Willie randolph out of the equation? I haven't heard his name lately.

OZZIE!  OZZIE!  OZZIE!

I wish I shared your celebratory tone for a managerial candidate that, at one time, pretty much said f*** the fans.

Ozzie would fit in this Organization though..... relatively cheap with no managerial experience where he can hone his managerial chops with the White Sox :bang.
