Ohtani - 2 More Seasons until FA

Featured Replies

Could he be available?  Can the Angels pay both Trout and Ohtani?  With 2 seasons left before free agency this would be the time to get a monster haul in return.  And if that potential scenario played out well...the Angels could be good in 2 seasons and could sign Ohtani as a FA again.  The White Sox don't have what it would take in terms of prospects...who out there does?  If Ohtani plays with the Angels 2 more years without an extension...there are only 4 or 5 clubs that would be in the mix to be able to pay him right?  Would the Angels have the courage to trade him this offseason?

Trading him for an insane haul would be the best thing they could do.  They need so much pitching and prospect depth, plus it will be nearly impossible to pay enough pitching with the contracts they have already on offense.

That said, I doubt they have the guts to do it.

I absolutely believe they CAN pay Ohtani.  Whether they should or should not is a different question.  Angels have had large payrolls before, Arte Moreno will shell out the dough

Yeah...I guess I get that they can pay Ohtani and Trout at the same time...but what does that leave for the rest of the roster?  2 stars are great to have...but if it extends their losing season streak from 6 to 10 or more...is it worth it?  Ohtani is a unique talent for sure...I would love to see the Angels trade him this winter just to see what they could get back?  Or...sign him long-term because his contract will be unlike any before due to the pitching and hitting aspect to his play.

I think the Angels should just trade him this offseason....do they need a closer? ?

Get the GM really really high and have him agree to Ohtani and Fletcher for Kimbrel and Keuchel.

That's the best offseason plan I've seen so far...bravo.

If Hahn needs help finding, let's say some stuff, he can call me.
