Durham's a middle infielder who hits for average and power, and has great plate discipline and speed. Jon Adkins has a live arm, but a completely uninspiring record when it comes to actually pitching, posting mediocre strikeout rates throughout his minor league career, and sporting an ERA in excess of 6 at Triple-A Sacramento at the time of the trade, with a tidy 139 hits allowed in 97 innings.

 

To even up the deal, the White Sox threw in some cash.

Well he has the potential to be the same. Barcelo is having a good season down in the Winter Leauges. A report on that should be on the main page tomorrow or Wednesday. We have it done, but are holding it off until the seasons officially end.

If you are kinda saying nice about KW, I'd have to agree. I know a lot of people are really riled by him, and I am not exactly overjoyed by him, but I think he is still coming into his own as anyone does in a position life this. I think he will ok. As long as he never does anything as stupid as Schueler (sign Navarro over Clemems) I will like him.

there isnt any way on this green earth that kw can off set the screw ups he has already made......not now not ever......not even if he got those two without it costing us anything.............just cant happen cause hes screwed up too much.........

Almost all GM's would be given a couple years to see what they could do. Also, every gm, if given the chance, will make many many terrible moves..the key is outweighing them by the bad ones.

 

KW just doesn't have the payroll to cover up the bad ones, so he has to be basically perfect for the Sox to go far. They don't have the option to offer a ton of contracts, like so many other teams.

I definately think he's going to be demoted to his old position if this season is a flop. If this seasons a flop, I see JR cleaning house and going with a different philosphy where he actually spends a bit and brings in real quality baseball guys as manager and gm, and actually spends a bit on the team, cleaning up his image.

Well the guy that brought over from the Angels organization (Bob Fontaine?) is doing an awesome job. I here many say he was the guy who built the Angels farm system, which is one of the best in the majors as well.

yeah that may be .. but i dont think we keep kw around for anything... who needs him.. maybe we can ship him there free of charge............
