I think we understand the difference between comments from the player, the manager, a trainer, a doctor who is treating him, and a doctor who isn't.But the fact is at least with the Sox, I don't know about other teams, rarely very rarely has a medical professional ever cleared up medical confusion. All asking a manager to talk about medical issues is muddy the waters and cause more complaining from the fan base when what they are saying doesn't come to pass or is flat out wrong. Or the organization can come out Getz for example, and say we 'will not comment on player injuries at all moving forward because of HIPPA laws.'

And you can do all the resting, icing, and taking the proper meds for a week, then one day's better, the next day seems worse. You sleep funny. I just think that the people who squawk about transparency actually understand that nobody knows anything. Trainers, doctors, managers, or the players themselves can't tell you exactly where an injury is, or what the exact timeline is. They're not going to run daily MRIs just so sports radio can speculate even more wildly. The manager's kind of the spokesman for the team on a daily basis. Getz only talks to the media maybe once a series or homestand, right? Edited 11 hours ago11 hr by WestEddy
