Are they going to be putting an AHL team on the ice now? (Aren't the Admirals their affliate - not the Milwaukee Admirals, the other ones...)

Pretty much. Their top farm club is the Norfolk Admirals.

I knew it was one of those admiral teams!

(PS to Hawk fans - I didn't mean that as a dis, just that it doesn't seem to be much of anyone left.)

FanOf14,

Since when did Karpovtsev ever fit the criterion of an NHL player?

I have no tears over this!!! Perhaps it might give Lasse Kukkonen some real playing time!

I read about this at Blackhawkzone.com last night. For up-to-date hockey news, please visit that site!

Couldn't tell ya!

I don't follow the Hawks much, but it seems every other day lately that I've been reading about a Hawk going under the knife. Injuries seem to come in clumps in hockey though.

I still remember 2 years ago, the Cincinatti Cyclones (were IHL, now they are ECHL) didn't even have enough men to fill 2 lines because of injuries and the AHL affliate calling up players and somehow they made it to the playoffs - Don Biggs coming back really helped them. He was a kick ass little player.

I remember Biggs well. He was a little goon, and he loved to mix up it with the Komets goons back in the day...

Even when he came out of retirement he was a bit of a goon - it was hysterical watching this guy that was easily 10-12 yrs older and easily 6 inches shorter than the rest of the players going head to head physically.

LOL I can't believe that guy kept playing. Although it was funny to see the cult following that some of the goons around the IHL got. I remember there being so many people (espesially women) who religiously followed what the tough guys did, and either loved or hated them.

I'm sorry, but there is no real interest in Chicago hockey anymore. Hockey is in deep trouble.

Trust me there is interest. But no one is willing to pay anything anymore after all of their favorite players have been run off, for nothing. Hawks fans aren't the Cub-type to keep jumping off of cliffs hoping it will get better.

You guys are making me fiend for some hockey. With the house stuff we are doing, we haven't gotten to Cincy, Peoria or Allstate Arena for some hockey action. Typically by this point we would have seen at least 5-7 games live....

Me too  I miss sitting rinkside for $10 in Ft Wayne. Even the Wolves are expensive on our budget, plus being all of the way up north, it makes it hard to get up there.

Well there's gonna be a lockout in 2004, mark my words and it's gonna kill Hockey and the NHL. Players r gonna sign contracts in Europe and a new league that's meant to be formin because it's in their own best interests. Teams like Washington r dumbasses for payin guys like Jagr and Lang 5 year deals worth at least $5 mill. And when Wirtz says he's losing at least $20 mill a year when the Blackhawks hav the 24th highest payroll in the NHL, well there's ya problem.

Hopefully when they create a new league they have things like a salary cap and ways to take care of the Canadian teams so that they don't lose them because of currency conversions.

Anyone who believes that Dollar Bill is losing money is a fool. This son of a b**** makes more money off this team that I could make in a million lifetimes. Now he's going to use his influence to help destroy hockey. Someone please kill him.
