Deferral

Featured Replies

I don't get this money deferral equation for these free agent contracts. For example, the 3 year 36 million year deal for Colon...I don't get how this money gets deferred...

WHen money is deferred, it means that they don't get the money up front. For example in a typical 3 yr 36 mill deal, you get paid 12 mill over the season. I don't know how often they get paid, whether its biweekly or monthly, but you break down that 12 mill into the season and then you get a few mill each month.

If in case you have deferred money..then you may only get 9 of that mill up front and the remaining 3 mill each year is paid off as negotiated (Maybe in monthly stallments with a 7% return over 10 years).

As I mentioned in other posts I beleive this has to do with the NEw TV contract that will take effect in 2005. They will ahve more money to spend then. THey defer some of the contract till then and when the money comes in they pay in 2005

I guess I have Comcast so I get that channel

What I am wondering about this channel, is it only for area subscribers or is it on a national level?

I think it will be on a national level. Well, national in the sense that if you have the ability to pull in outside sports channels you should be able to get this one. And national in the sense that if you have MLB XTRA Innings you should be able to get the games on this channel. I know that when the Orioles games are on Comcast I get the games on XTRA Innings, so I don't see how this would be any different.
