Little Matsui will be a met

Featured Replies

I said it in a thread before, I just do feel it in this guy. I have never seen him played, but it just doesnt seem like he has the same persona as Yankee Matsui, or Ichiro. I think he is WAY overhyped.

Hideki Irabu anyone?

I think his high strike out totals are the thing to worry about. He's not worth 7 mill, I'd much much much rather give Tejada 8 mill because you pretty much know what you will get out of him.

This is just a typical Met move...new GM, same dumb moves if you ask me. I could be wrong though, I think the people that kind of know are the guys that have seen Matsui play. The most we can do is speculate based on stats and reading things.

I think at the worse he will be a fast, very good defensive shortstop that will hit .260 - .270 with 15 hr's and quite a few stolen bases. In that sense he won't be a bust, but I don't really consider that a 7 mill a year player. Then again, he could really struggle and strikeout a ton, but Japanese players usually are good fundementally so I don't see a huge dropoff.

I just laugh how the Mets continue to buy players instead of let their youngsters take a year or two to develop and then go out and bring in the vets to go around the ones that look like they will pan out.

What about Jose Reyes...?

What about Jose Reyes...?

They're moving him to second base.
