Braves declined to offer arbitration to outfielder Gary Sheffield.

The Braves apparently plan to file a grievance against the Yankees, believing that they've already in fact agreed to terms with Sheffield. The Braves might have a case, but the fact that they weren't certain enough that a deal was done to actually offer arbitration to Sheffield could work against them.

Now this is the first good news of the night, because it makes it more likely that the Sox get the yanks first rounder instead of 2nd rounder.

That is true, Jason....... I can't believe that the Braves didn't offer him arbitration.

So, it seems that we are getting lots of draft picks this year. Two first rounders so far and a sandwich first rounder. And if Bartolo signs somewhere else, we'll get a total of three first rounders and two sanwich picks. Looks like we are building for the future, again
