We have always heard the White Sox talking about getting a left-handed bat, mostly during the 2002 season. Most people won't miss Jeff Liefer's (lack of) presence on the bench, but who is our left-handed threat going into the '03 campaign. My instincts tell me this heavily right-handed lineup could be made maybe 4 times more potent by tossing a power lefty into the heart of our order. Any ideas who is gonna fill this role next season? is armando rios really the guy for the job?

Rios and Valentin (switch hitter) are the only two lefties on the roster that I can think of off the top of my head. I could easily be forgetting someone though.

I'm pretty sure Daylan Holt, one of the two minor leaguers we got in the Koch trade, could be used and is left-handed. There are also others out there. And come mid-season, if our bench is really terrible, or it is severly lacking a LH bat, then we could bring Borchard up. It wouldn't kill him if we brought him up.

When Joe Borchard arrives he will provide plenty of power from both sides of the plate

Jiminez is a switch hitter too

Daylan Holt bats right-handed, and Neal Cotts is a LHP.

i honestly feel joe borchard will open up in CF this year...i just have a feeling he is gonna hit like 400 in arizona and numerous homers in the thin air and force the sox to take him north..then we have our lefty power bat

Me and you don't disagree often Baggs, but I just don't see this one happening..... at least by Opening Day..... maybe a mid-season call up but I think Rowand will be our CF'er for Opening Day.

I'll agree with Cubkilla on this one - JB midseason at earliest

Joe B himself said he wants to return to AAA, he doesn’t think he's ready. If he doesn’t think he's ready he won’t be the starting CF.

like Crede, he needs just a bit more seasoning to be all that we wnat him to be when he comes to stay

Borchard is also a switch hitter, as is D'Angelo Jimenez and Willie Harris.

I'm assuming your talking about power hitting lefties though.

I think another one would be nice, but we'll eventually have that with Borchard.

I think all this lefty power bat need is total crap.
