1st thread of 2004! (for me)

just hate to think about games against the Yankees, Red Sox, Mariners and other top teams with the current Sox pitching staff.

Our pitching will do enough to get it done, and the offense should produce more than just home runs (i.e situational hitting) now that Ozzie Guillen is here.

I think that by the time the offseason is over there will be AT LEAST one major acquisition made. Kenny wILLIAMS ALWAYS DOES SOMETHING IN MID-JANUARY. todd richie, Bartolo Colon. I feel that the Sox will win the  central this year. PITCHERS AND CATCHERS REPORT IN 1.5 MONTHS! WAIT........... WHO ARE THE PITCHERS THAT ARE REPORTING.WHO WILL FILL OUT ARE ROTATION?CLIFF POLITTE FOR CY  YOUNG

Todd Ritchie was acquired during the Winter Meetings in mid-December. However, I don't doubt that a major transaction will take place, though it will most likely be us dumping some salary on a team.

And biggie, you are wrong. Colon actually had a decent season(15-13 3.87 in 242 innings), pretty much mediocre for his career. It was nothing like his 2002 when he went 20-8 with a 2.93 ERA in 233 innings on two mediocre teams, but it was better then his 01 season when he went 14-12 with a 4.09 ERA in 222 innings

Also in 03, Bartolo's innings pitched were the highest of his career(242), he had his best K-BB ratio of his career(nearly 3), and he had his lowest walk total of his career(67). He also set a career high in CG's with 9. Bart's year was far from one of his worst. It was, as I said before, pretty much mediocre for his career.

im not basing that remark on this team im basing it in the facts that: 1. our division sucks, and 2. were not as bad as people think. I also have faith that kenny will make a few good deals.

Exactly. That is the same thing I have been thinking all along.

The one thing that we have to remember is that we face our inter-division rivals 19 times each, while we face the other divisions 9 times each. The Twins and Royals are okay, but they're not head and shoulders better than our team. That's what frustrates me. We just need a player or two to put us over the hump - (no camel references, please).

I'm not joking when I say that this division could very well be won by a team that goes 82-80. Can we do that?

Let's see what Kenny grabs off the scrap heap in the next 2 months.

You are an idiot.

Go Sox

Because these teams play each other so much, somebody has to finish above .500.

Well I think only 1 team is goin to finish ova .500 and I think it's either gonna be us or the Royals. I can't see the Twinkies doin it cos of the bullpen problems and AJ is a big time loss for their pitchin staff. Plus Stewart will pull his hammy in the openin week. 82-80 should be the target mark this year I think.

we're in it.
