I know there's going to be a lot of talk about this after the game's over, so I'll go ahead and start the thread..

 

Looks like michigan brought it's kicking game from the Iowa game.  got that first kick blocked.

 

Already it's a 2 touchdown defecit and it looks like it could get ugly.

I'm pretty sure USC will probably pull this one out, but a two touchdown deficit isn't that much in college just yet. They have trouble putting these things aways. Look at the Georgia-Purdue game, though Georgia ended up pulling that out (Thank God--whew--I'm an IU fan )....but we'll see....USC has probably got this one early though.

I'm a MSU fan so I would love to see USC take it out on Michigan. Michigan just scored a td so now its 21-7 in the third.

28-14 now with just under 9 minutes left. Looks like Michigan will have to do something special to pull it off.

I am probably not going to be around later and right now I am of course very disappointed and yet hopeful.

 

I remain very proud of Michigan no matter what happens in the final 3 minutes.

 

 

I am surprised that an Indiana fan would pull for Purdue to lose, or an MSU fan for Michigan to lose, in the bowl games. Real football fans, real Big 10 school fans, always pull for the Big 10 teams. My 4 year old grandson knows that. I was cheering for MSU on Monday and cheered for Purdue today as I root for every Big 10 team in their bowl games.

 

Of course one can choose to be petty. But what a selfish way to live.

 

 

 

Hell, it doesn't mean anything but I'll even be pulling for FSU tonight because the brother of a good friend and also Spiff are FSU fans and you do things for friends.

I was going to say the same thing... I always root for the big ten in bowl games... After Minnesota's win the other day, the first thing Glen Monson said was that he hoped the victory set the table for the Big Ten to get on a run in the Bowl season. Big Ten Football is a fraternity, no matter what team you play for. Year after year, you hear the same thing out of coaches mouths during the bowl season. They may beat up on each other during conference play, but as soon as that's over, they want every team to be sucessful.

Dog I've felt the pain before of losing one of these big BCS games (1999, 2001, and last year), and I might feel it later, and all I can say is it sucks watching time run out on such a great season. As it gets closer and closer to end panic sets in momentarily, but you realize it's not the end of the world. After those big title game losses, I made sure to wear a FSU shirt the next day, so I know what you mean about bein proud.

I have no problem rooting for any Big Ten team w/ the exception of Purdue. I was really pulling for UM today and I was glad to see Iowa destroy Florida today.

I wasn't rooting "against" Michigan, I just don't like them all that much. I guess you are a big U of M fan so I'm sorry that they lost. I don't really have a favorite college team, so I just usually pick a team that I feel deserves it more. USC should have been in the Sugar Bowl, and they needed to further prove to be the #1 team.

I'm from Indiana, but I rarely watch the IU games. It's not the prettiest game to see. As for college football, I'd rather just go to a Bears game. I've only been to like one ND game, one MSU, and one Valpo. I know when I'm in college, I'll enjoy it a little more.

My friend took me to South Bend to see the ND-Navy game this year....Awesome, awesome experience.....It was a great game too; ND won on a 40 yd FG w/ time expiring. That place just has a buzz around it on gamedays. I felt as if I was in 'Rudy' lol.

Well when I went to the ND game I was like 5 so that doesn't really count. And the Valpo games draw about 100 people, so theres no buzz there. And the MSU game I went to this year I had to sit in the student section, and well they were playing Rutgers so there wasn't much buzz. Half the students left at half time, passing out from Friday nights parties and the tailgating. I would love to go to a rivalry game or something like that where theres more passion. The reason I like NFL games more is because the past three years I've went, the Bears have won on the last play of regulation or overtime. In '01 we were at the game versus the Browns where the James Allen hailmary happened (right in our corner and we were in the second row so the play happened about 15 feet from us) and of course the Mike Brown interception return, also right in front of us. Last year I went to the game where Marty Morningweigh (sp?) chose the wind over that ball in OT and Edinger hit the game winning fg. This year, we went to the game vs. the Redskins and Edinger hit the game winner with 5 seconds left. If you were in my situation of games attented, I think you'd rather go to pro games too. I understand why college football is so cherished too, but I just haven't experienced it yet.

It's weird that you said that because the only ND game I went to had the filming of "Rudy" during halftime, although, unfortunately, I don't remember it because I was very young. Great movie with great actors.

I have pulled for Illinois in their bowl games - and I despise Illinois for cause.

 

(I could add it is typical for an Ill fan to say they won't cheer for Michigan in a bowl - sad that it was DK who said that since DK is a great guy. I remind that when the Illini went to the Sugar Bowl you didn't beat Michigan but we all were hoping you would win your bowl. But on second thought, I won't point that out at all.)

 

As has been pointed out, when Big 10 teams play each other, all the emotions flow and when Big 10 teams play outside the league, we stick together. It does no Big 10 school proud if the rest of the conferance goes down in flames.

I see good things for the wolverines next year. A good recieving corps, another good qb, David Underwood, and competition against a weakened big ten.

Don't Underestimate the rest of the Big Ten.

 

Ohio St, will be Ohio St -- at least 9 wins.

Iowa, has been picked 7th or worst for 2 straight years, they have 21 wins in the last 2 years..including 2 over Michigan. They'll be about the same. a little weaker because of key losses @ RB, K, SS, WR -- at least 8 wins

Minnesota should be a legitamite top 15 next year, even without the QB that O-line is awsome. -- 10 wins

Purdue, is returning a ton of it's defense, plus thier QB -- at least 9 wins

Wisconsin -- always plays a terrible game early, and one amazing game in the big 10 season.. It could be vs. Michigan.

Michigan St -- 2nd season under John L Smith... should have some improved continuity -- They're always capable of beating Michigan.

 

That's 6 of 10 posssible Big Ten opponents that could be ranked in the top 25 going into the Big Ten season. Don't think that michigan can just show up and walk away with another big 10 championship.
