January 3, 200422 yr Author Two words Jaime Navarro. I assume that is the the Worst category. It will be very hard for anyone to top my best with Fisk and your worst with Navarro.

January 3, 200422 yr Navarro has to be the worst. The best I think, even though he wasn't a major league free agent, but a free agent signing nonetheless was Magglio Ordonez who the Sox signed after some sort of tryout, and after another team, the Astros I believe, took a pass.

Fisk vs Mags? No way. So we create two categories: best FA signing, major league player: Fisk. best FA signing, minor league player: Mags only way to do this - they are both among our greats
January 3, 200422 yr Actually, Melvin Mora told a White Sox scout about Magglio after the Astros took the pass on him, then the Sox gave him a try-out and the rest is history. Mora and Maggs are tight.
