From the Trib:

Walking with a slight limp but no crutches, Jay Williams stopped by the United Center on Monday after giving a basketball clinic at the nearby James Jordan Boys & Girls Club.

"They're killing me in rehabilitation, but I'm seeing progress and that's good," Williams said. "The doctors are saying I could be back by late next season."

That notion still could be optimistic, but Williams reported he can jump and touch the net and no longer wears a bulky knee brace. Williams undergoes two sessions of rehab daily in Durham, N.C.

A recent trip to Los Angeles for the All-Star Game proved a mixed bag for his emotions. "It was hard to be there," Williams said. "But it reminded me what I'm working towards."

I hope this kid makes it, he's a good person who made a really bad decision, shouldn't we all get a second chance?

he will be back but i wonder how much he will have lost

A guy Orlando should be really lookin at signin. big risk, but a big reward if he can get back to his Duke form which is prob unlikely. It wll allow us to pick a big man instead of a Jameer Nelson or Shaun Livingstone as well, but I'd still like to see Reece Gaines be given sum time on da floor.

Great to hear that Jay Will is progressing. I think the Bulls would probably tell him to hold out and wait another full year and then try to bring him on their summer league team the following year and work him slowly back into things.

I do believe the Bulls will sign him once he is healthy.

I wish the guy the best, he's a quality character who made one bad choice in life.

I hope so too. The Bulls have really taken the classy high road by the way they have handled this situation. They could have just cut the kid and not given him a dime. Both sides deserve JWill to return to his potential as a reward for the way they handled themselves after this happened.

But the thing is, it still is a business, and IMO, they should have cut him. Bulls need all the help they can get now and paying the kid money he really doesn't deserve doesn't help their cause. But, I do want to see him come back and do well. Maybe Bobcats bound??

And in a business sense they freed up a roster spot, and they now have themselves a player not under contract, but basically on their team, who doesn't have to be protected against the expansion draft.
