Jeremy Affeldt - Starting Pitcher - Royals Mar. 20 - 7:10 pm et Jeremy Affeldt, officially named the Royals' No. 3 starter before the game, allowed two runs -- one earned -- in 4 2/3 innings against the Mariners. The Royals received a scare when Affeldt was hit by a liner in the first inning, but he was able to stay in. "It missed my glove and hit me right about the (left) hip," Affeldt said. "I need that fat roll. It got all skin. It didn't get the ribs. It stung for a little bit, but I'm all right." Brian Anderson - Starting Pitcher - Royals Mar. 20 - 7:05 pm et Brian Anderson today was officially named Kansas City's Opening Day starter. Darrell May will start the second game of the season.

Hey, I dun post here too much, but I had to nitpick here (hope this doesn't destroy my "street cred" ) I believe that the opening series with the Royals is only a two game series, our third game will be against the Yanks and whoever they start will be a righty for sure. I still hope that we can bust on Sox killer Brian Anderson opening day. What a tone setter that would be! BTW, pray for my Illini tomorrow!

March 21, 200422 yr Nothing like starting the season off with two "do or die" series'. It will show what the Sox are made of early on. I have a feeling Gammons and Harold Reynolds will eat their words about 3rd and 4th place in the Central when the KC series is over. The Yankees could be a bit more difficult though.

I'm just confident this time...and kind of goofing around too. Last year....that was dumb. I think we can all collectively blame Jose Paniagua on that one.
