February 4, 200323 yr I know there is a suction device for waste collection. And I think your friend is right..... I believe it is jettisoned somehow outside of the shuttle..... but not 100% sure.

The truth of the matter is this.. they have a suctioned collection unit. They each have individual "hoses" that they go in. And then it is expelled out of the shuttle. So yep.. there's a whole lotts s*** flying around up there.

February 5, 200323 yr man..and i thought i wanted to be an astronaut :S and i heard they use the same idea for eating? sucking it INSIDE their mouths?? Actually, they can eat regularly, but I read it's uncomfortable. But they do turn upside-down to drink. I'm sure all of this info is on the NASA FAQ's page if you really want to know details When I lived in Florida we took a field trip to Kennedy and I remember learning all about this stuff. And my uncle is in the Air Force and got to go up in the plane that does the zero gravity training a few times and told me about it.
