All the attention goes to the poor fans on the North Side but how about a little compassion for the beleaguered folks on the south side? Sox fans are still paying the price for having their team throw the 1919 World Series. They not only haven't won any postseason since then, they've only played in the World Series once -- the worst mark by far. It's enough to make you want to jump from Comiskey's upper deck ... if you could climb that high

17. Colorado Rockies

They set an attendance record that may never be broken and reached the postseason in just their third year. And nothing has gone right since. Are the Rockies even in the league anymore?

I actually agree with them on that, you absolutely never hear anything from the rockies anymore.

and they also do a most miserable moment for each team, here's ours:

On July 31, 1997, the White Sox trailed the Indians by 3 1/2 games in the AL Central, when penurious owner Jerry Reinsdorf raised the white flag by trading pitchers Wilson Alvarez, Roberto Hernandez and Danny Darwin to the Giants for prospects. (Close second: uniforms with collars. Close third: Disco Demolition Night.)

How is a transaction that netted us Foulke, Howry, Caruso and Barcelo.

Caruso was decent for awhile, Howry and Barcelo were real good before they got hurt... and Foulke.. well, he just sucks.

Alvarez and Hernandez were never that good after the trade, Darwin? pffth.

I fail to see how that is worse than the Sox imploding at home in the 2000 playoffs versus the Mariners.

we were only 3.5 games back! with 2 months left, it showed us that JR doesn't care about winning

the White Flag trade turned out very positive for us.

Although I b****ed about it like hell at the time.

And still do on occasion.

ESPN and all these folks are just creating controversey because they have airtime and pages to fill and it gets people talking. Their comments are not even original, but tired cliches. And everyone knows the worst thing was not the White Flag trade but the throwing of the world series and lsoing 8 players who would have made us the yankees of the 20s and changed our whole history. But that is also a cliche to have that posted. Some origi9nal thoughts from ESPN would be nice, but will never happen.
