Designated Hitter

Thinking about Dontrell Willis and his hot bat, I'm wondering

A. If the DH is mandatory, can the pitcher bat?

B. If you do not DH for the pitcher, can you DH for a field position

I think it's no and yes, but maybe that's just the Little League I coach. I remember Colorado used to pinch hit Brian Bohanon a lille bit. Too bad he pitched like s***.

Very intiguing question...

I'd have to say yes the pitcher can bat...

I don't know if the pitcher bats, whether the DH can be used to cover another positions AB's though...

Yes, the designated hitter can be used to bat for anybody in the lineup.

The funny part of DH is when you pinch run for him like Willy for Frank yesterday. Then you lose your privilege of having a DH for the rest of the game.

Exactly. So if your pitcher starts the game as a hitter also, you can't use the DH in the rest of the game.
