April 27, 200421 yr Speaking of which.....Mariotti hinted he might sue Hawkaroo if the latter is not careful. His basic spiel boiled down to "I am too big in this town to bother with a senile company man-cum-worst announcer in baseball that shall remain nameless" For all it's worth, which is admittedly not a lot. He couldnt sue for anything, maybe slander, but then couldnt the sox sue him????

Mariotti has claimed many times he would sue Hawk for slander. After today's show he no longer has the luxury of using that line, as Hawk could have solid evidence of Jay imcriminating his character. On ESPN1000 this morning Jay made several demeaning claims: 1. Hawk has slept with members on the other radio station; 670 the score. 2. In the future Jay is going to stomp on Hawks grave. (If anyone here want's to prove me wrong go ahead, but I swear that's what I heard him say) 3. The attendance problem apparently can be directly attributed to hawk. Sox need to find a hip, young broadcaster who doesn't use broken English such as HE Gawn. 4. Hawk constantly sounds like he's constipated in the broadcasters booth.

I would settle for an ld timer like Harry Caray, or (and forgive my braintoot here) that old fellow from the Tigers. Now those guys had class.

April 27, 200421 yr Author Sox need to find a hip, young broadcaster You mean like the unlistenable DJ? Or a soul-less JoshLewin3000? No, thanks.
April 27, 200421 yr There is absolutely nothing wrong with Hawk's broadcasts. It's obvious that he's loving what he does every day (well, not as much when the Sox are losing)...His passion is everpresent. It's awesome to go back and forth with other Sox fans and quote Hawkisms for like an hour at a time...Hawk has made his mark, albiet a small one, on the broadcasting world.
April 27, 200421 yr You mean like the unlistenable DJ? But he called Hawk "sexy." That's gotta account for something!!!
April 27, 200421 yr You mean like the unlistenable DJ? Or a soul-less JoshLewin3000? No, thanks. Hows about Carmen DeFalco (of ESPN 1000) as replacement for him some day? I love Hawk (don't want to think of a game without him), but we all know he won't be broadcasting Sox games forever.
April 27, 200421 yr You don't think Mariotti was talking about the Sox getting an announcer like Chip Carey...do you? I mean, is Mariotti that f'ed in the head that he might consider the Chipster to actually being good? I have run into many Cub fans that hate our announcers, but as long as they have Chip, Ron, and Pat, I just let their words roll on by. Chip is as bad as Jim Rome as far as annoying people go. :puke
April 27, 200421 yr Hawk is the kind of announcer you love if your the fan of the team and hate if your not. Hawk acts like a fan up there, when things are going good, he's happy, he gets excited. When things are sucking, you can see it's bothering him. I LOVE hawk as our announcer, he's a lot better than having some generic, cookie-cutter one.
