CSF
No reliever (except for Mariano Rivera & Eric Gagne) is completely lights-out these days, but Marte for the last 3 years has been damn tough. This year though, he just seems to keep missing his spots. The game against Cleveland when he walked Hafner (I think) to load the bases, then gave up the tying run on a sac fly. Then again today, when he missed his spot and gave up the tying home run to Delgado. His 1st 2 pitches were awesome, then that slider could've been called strike 3, but then he grooved a fastball down the middle on the home run. I wonder if he's trying to live up to the contract he signed during ST? Or maybe it's just a dead arm right now. Either way, I hope he finds his groove soon. Because he is probably the most important person in that 'pen.
SoxFanForever
He has made very few mistakes this season. The first game, today and it was iffy in Cleveland. I think he is fine.
CSF
He has made very few mistakes this season. The first game, today and it was iffy in Cleveland. I think he is fine. The final game against the Yankees too. He lucked out and got Travis Lee to ground into a double play, and it was more of a good play by Uribe/Harris that turned it. beck72
I'd be more concerned if Marte showed a drastic drop off from where he was the last few years. Except for opening day and yesterday's pitch to Delgado, Marte still has filthy stuff. His BB's are a concern [and his reactions to missing the strike zone]. He has looked uncomfortable at times, frustrated at not hitting his spots, etc. Yet it's early. He should come around and get in a nice groove. BobDylan
I wouldn't get too concerned. He got off to a slow start last season too. He'll be back to his filthy self when the weather heats up.
southsider2k5
Delgado hammering anyone is not a surprise. That guy is a monster.
CSF
I love it when I'm wrong! Way to go, Damaso!!!!
CWSGuy406
I'm worried that some of our pitchers seem to miss their spots, a lot. Like, watching Damaso, it seemed as if Olivo wanted the ball on the outside corner twice, and both time Marte went into. Not making a big deal of it, I'm just pointing it out. Then again, I'll take outs any way they come.
