jasonxctf
Did you know that in the past 199 games, (till the start of the 2003 Season) White Sox #5 or Spot Starters have Won a total of 3 Games. 4/19/03- Josh Stewart vs Detroit (12-3) 7/21/03- Mike Porzio vs Cleveland (4-3) 8/22/03- Neal Cotts vs Texas (7-1) If you assume that Sox #5 starters pitch every 5.5 games (assuming a 4 man rotation occasionally, rainouts, all-star break etc) that means that in the past 36+ starts they have Won 3 games. It's time to stop putting a band-aid over the #5 spot and really fix the problem. Just my thought for the day.

DonkeyKongerko
Wow I feel lucky because I was at that Porzio game. I witnessed baseball history that night.
jasonxctf
I also wonder how many starts Danny Wright got during these 199 games without recording a W?
SnB
Wow I feel lucky because I was at that Porzio game. I witnessed baseball history that night. I was at that game too......wow that stat absolutely sucks. OT: What ever happened to porzio? I totally forgot about him
hammerhead johnson
That is just beyond pathetic. I wonder where the next closest team would rank over that time span. It's probably the Devil Rays with like 7 to 10 wins. Even Shawn Estes won damn near 10 games over that time span.....

southsider2k5
And that there explains all of our 2nd place finishes as well as any other statistic.
witesoxfan
I was at that game too......wow that stat absolutely sucks. OT: What ever happened to porzio? I totally forgot about him He signed with Cleveland. SS2k...that was one of the reasons we got 2nd last year. Another was the fact that we lost 8 friggin times to the Tigers as well, and that we lost 3 1-0 games, as well as a 2-1 or 3-2 game here and there as well. YASNY
Yes, I was aware of it, though I thought it was 4 wins. Sue me. The fact that the Sox would only offer Kenny Rogers $1 million and the Twins offered him $2 million cost us the division last year. Now THAT is what is pathetic. We saved a million in payroll and lost the division because of it. Of course, that's only one of the contributing factors. If we would have had Kenny Rogers instead of the Twins, we win. If Koch had performed as expected, we win. If Konerko had performed as expected, we win. If Wright had performed as expected, we win. If any 1 of those 4 things would have happened, we win. *Sigh*
