I was just wondering, what do any of you think of the state of Iowa? I'd be interested to see what people think about when they hear Iowa, hopefully besides corn and pigs.

i think of silos :D

1. the state voted right in 1988 which gave me a hint we could win in 1992 - the state voted right in 1992, 1996, and 2000. Go Iowa!

2. the state where U of Michigan lost its beloved Johhny Orr to, to ISU

3. the state with the school, Iowa, that has gioven us some titantic battles in football

4. Harold Hughes, a great man and a great governor who supported Eugene McCarthy in 1968, giving a stirring nominating speech at the 68 convention.

Those are imagines that come to mind when I hear "Iowa."

I've driven through a good portion of Iowa the first weekend of March last year to attend the ISU/UNI men's basketball game in Ceder Falls (ISU won). The ONLY thing remotely close to civilization was Ceder Rapids, and that wasn't that big. I was about to lose my mind!

Cedar Rapids has about 120,000 people. I'm from Dubuque...it's right where Iowa, Illinois, and Wisconsin all intersect. Iowa City (right next to Cedar Rapids) is f***ing great to party at with the U of Iowa there.

I think of the University of Iowa 'cuz I have a few friends there and my uncle went there, so I am a psuedo-Hawkeye fan now. Other than that, it's no worse nor better than the rest of this crappy state sans the preppy suburbs.

I think of Radar O'Rielly. :P

I drove through a bit of Iowa and Montana and Wyoming and the later two sucked ass, at least Iowa has a state snow clearing budget.
