Tough break for the D-Backs,

PHOENIX -- A doctor for Arizona first baseman Richie Sexson has recommended surgery for the slugger.

Sexson went on the disabled list April 29 with a partially dislocated left shoulder and muscle tear.

The Diamondbacks said Monday that Dr. Michael Lee determined Sexson's partially torn labrum won't be able to heal on its own this season, although there were no new injuries to his shoulder.

Lee said he had determined that Sexson's injury is problematic and will continue as the season moves on.

"My recommendation is to lean toward surgical intervention to repair the labrum and get Richie on the road to recovery sooner than later," Lee said in a news release sent out by the team late Monday.

Lee also recommended a second opinion. Sexson is set to be re-examined next week by Dr. James Andrews of Birmingham, Ala.

I've got the same injury as him -- My shoulder like to pop out if I take a bad golf swing -- He can't check swing, the force pulls his shoulder out of socket -- In My experiece, once you've weakened the surrounding muscles it becomes easier to pop out the shoulder, and less painfull. -- The key to preventing it without surgery, is wrest first, then a conditioning program that will help get the area around the shoulder stranger. --

I was recomended surgery, but without health insurance and my inherant fear of doctors, I declined -- My shoulder has popped out probably 15+ times in the 8 years since it happened.. It's nothing you can't deal with, and something that, inthe future I may look to fix. But for right now, I can lead a perfectly normal life without the surgery. Ritchie can't -- He'll go under the knife.

:puke :crying

Damn. That is too bad for the kid. The thing is with AZs best bat out of the line up, the Randy Johnson sweepstakes might get sped up.

If you are Arizona, do you resign Sexson to a long term deal? I mean if we can ship out Konerko, and we lose Maggs, Koch and Valentin, we could easily get Sexson on a long term deal. :o

is Sexson done for the year ??

Forget it i found it , its if he has surgery he is done. Well i guess i gotta go rip some people off by tradng them Sexson in my fantasy leagues.
