When he first comes back to the village and can't find anybody there , so he gets ready to leave as the girl is calling him, then accidentally looks back at the backside of the barn...... That s*** stays with you forever, eso when you're like 12. :puke I think the contrast between Flora's face when he first joins the partisans and when he leaves the barn did it for me. While I have heard that he might have been hypnotized at that scene, Klimov did a f***ing amazing job with the facial expressions. To this day, I think Flora's face when he sees the Byelorussian citizens burned in the church is the most powerful anti-war thing I have seen. For a first time actor to give a performance that good is absolutely astonishing. I had a feeling you might have seen this, Brando. I tink I'm one of the 3 people in Indiana who have actually seen this movie.

June 3, 200421 yr I think the contrast between Flora's face when he first joins the partisans and when he leaves the barn did it for me. While I have heard that he might have been hypnotized at that scene, Klimov did a f***ing amazing job with the facial expressions. To this day, I think Flora's face when he sees the Byelorussian citizens burned in the church is the most powerful anti-war thing I have seen. For a first time actor to give a performance that good is absolutely astonishing. I had a feeling you might have seen this, Brando. I tink I'm one of the 3 people in Indiana who have actually seen this movie. Oh yeah - I thought at the end he was the youngest 70yo I've ever seen. :puke I also remember the girl dancing in the forest like Dietrich or Shirley Temple, which is what they most likely showed in the nearest town's movie theater before the War. Stuff like that. Other things I think I blocked out. Have you seen Tarkovsky's Ivan's Childhood )(Ivanovo Detstvo)? It came out decades before Come and See (idi i smotri), deals with a similar theme, but it's done in a completely different style, just so unforgettably beautiful and poetic. It came way before Solaris, I think Tarkovsky's first film. I think they just relased a criterion DVD.

Drexel (Gary Oldman) is one of the best characters in recent movie history. Christopher Walken (Vincent Cocotti) is also awesome, as was Brad Pitt (as the "pot head").

June 5, 200421 yr Top 10 Comedies: Caddy Shack Office Space Major League Super Troopers Fast Times at Ridgemont High Animal House Weekend at Bernies Road Trip American Pie Beavis and Butthead Beverly Hills Cop (so its 11, lol) Top 10 Action: Die Hard (going to go with the series here) True Lies Terminator (both 1 and 2 were good) Kill Bill (both volumes) Desperado (how can't you like some of those action scenes) Man on Fire (badass action scenes in that movie) Gladiator Unforgiven (may not fit this genre) Indian Jones (soley cause I saw you put it in this genure, I'd say it goes more along the lines of adventure, but damn its hard enough putting this in a list as it is) Lethal Weapon (didn't know whether comedy or action..probably more comedy, but oh well) Will do action, drama and scifi later...cripes this took longer then I suspected.
