June 1, 200421 yr I was just reading a draft article on Whitesox.com and they said that one guy the sox might look at is Mike Ferris. He's a left handed hitting first baseman and just from looking at his stats he looks pretty darn good. I'm just wondering what some of you draft guru's think about this guy?
June 1, 200421 yr This is the article he is referring to. It's a pretty good read. I'm leaning towards Fields as of now, but it's hard to complain with a stud college pitcher.

Thanks for posting the article. I also like Fields but I think I'd rather the sox get a pitcher. But if they could get Howell with their compensation picks, Fields would probably be a damn good pick.
June 1, 200421 yr Ferris has Oakland written all over him....except he's a Junior. Interesting guy, can hit the crap out of the ball.

With all the picks the Sox will have, they will have the ability to pick the best player available and get good pitchers with the supplemental picks.
June 1, 200421 yr According to this he struggle big time in the MAC tourney, but he could be an interesting pick. From BA. "Was a disappointing 4-for-17 as the RedHawks got bounced from the MAC tournament."
June 1, 200421 yr Author With all the picks the Sox will have, they will have the ability to pick the best player available and get good pitchers with the supplemental picks. Yeah. I kind of worded that badly. I think the sox should definitely take best available but I do want to see them restock some arms in the system.
June 1, 200421 yr Yeah. I kind of worded that badly. I think the sox should definitely take best available but I do want to see them restock some arms in the system. I understood what you meant and was agreeing with you. I just wanted to add to it.
June 1, 200421 yr Author I understood what you meant was was agreeing with you. I just wanted to add to it. Gotcha, I just wanted to clear it up anyways because I didn't word it very well.
June 2, 200421 yr I think Ferris would be a pretty good pick, especially because 1B is a position where we don't have any real prospects (except for maybe Rogowski). Of course, I know we shouldn't draft a position b/c our system is weak at that position, but I'm just saying it would be another plus to taking this guy.
