The dude is, what, 46?

So far this season:

-900 OPS

-21 RBI in just 70 at bats

-plays good defense

-can still take an extra base

And all this considering he is struggling against LHP, which has been hi bread and butter in the last 3 years (.370 average). If he can get back on track against southpaws, that OPS jumps to 950 and RBI-per-AB ratio will be absolutely sick.

Which makes me wonder how come Robbie Alomar was done when he turned 34, while this guy, Larkin, Biggio, Gwynn, Ripken and Henderson (circa 1999) can keep on plugging at 40+

On TBS tonight they said that Julio passed Carlton Fisk as the oldest man to hit a grand slam.

There goes another Fisk record. :whip

I guess he's quoted as saying he wants to play until he's 50. After that, he wants to start managing in rookie ball and work his way up, just as he did to play in the bigs. He feels he must earn it.

Maybe because he is no longer an everyday player.

He is a great player and I liked him when he was on the White Sox.

I wish he would of stuck around a little longer though...

He was only with the sox one year right???
