when i make a top ten...i look at positions that are weak overall and rate those players higher..even if their stats are a little less then lets say a first baseman , a position thats loaded..

it used to be catcher and SS that id always make sure i got with my first two picks...i changed it this year to catchers and 2nd baseman because we seem to be heading into a dry spell with 2nd baseman as far as fantasy goes...

as far as pitchers go they go up and down so much i usually dont draft a highly rated pitcher...i consistently pick up and drop pitchers based on recent performances throughout the year..i find by doing some research i can find sleepers all over the place....you cant do that at other position..if your catcher sux , then you either trade , live with him , or pick up a guy on the waiver wire that just as bad...there are no sleepers at catcher...anyone who even remotely looks like he might get you some points out of that position will be on someones roster...pitchers, all season long guys are coming up from the minors as guys either get hurt or fail miserably in their roles..can always find a pitcher...atleast thats my theory..

with that in mind my list would be a little different than yours...

a-rod would be my number one pick..soriano would be in my top 5...piazza has to be high up on my list too...depending on the league closers could be really valuable...especially in leagues like sandbox...that also has something to do with rating fantasy prospects..how does your league score???

you got the top point getters up there..but if you spent your first 2 picks on an outfielder and a 1st baseman..youll get screwed at the thin positions...jmo

I can give you a sure way to either win, or come real close. The key is to compete. Luck and injuries play a big part. To compete, Baggio is right on the money, to a point. "good" pitchers are easily found on waivers throughout the season. There are two keys. One, I would say 7 of your first 10 players you take should be offensive players. With the other three picks, you really need to get at least one ace SP and one ace closer. When you DO draft for offense, always try to get a guy who can do it all, hit, hit for power , and run. You do this and you will win most leagues you join. One other thing. Load your team up with middle relievers through the late rounds, or waivers. They HELP your era and whip, and help to supplement your lack of SP. Honestly, I dont draft more than 2 or 3 starting pitchers, EVER.

Hey, I got others too...I know I got Crede....and Jose Cruz too. Just found out today that Cruz will be hitting in front of Bonds....that is awesome. He's gonna have like a .280 35 120 type year now with 30 SBs....well, I hope he does anyways! :D

And then I got a decent staff too(except f***in Hoffman....s***, I might have to drop him....as long as Guardado loses his job in like April....maybe the Sox can do that for me! Have the Twins take a lead into the 9th 3 straight games in April...and then have the Sox come back and win all 3 :headbang )

baggs....why do you think I was happy with getting Piazza AND Kent this year?  :)  They're like the two biggest power hitters at their positions

i got arod , durham and posada up the middle..im happy there..

bmr..i ended up with freddy garcia , odalis perez and randy wolf as my three starting pitchers...15 team league

Not bad........If it was a 10 team league id be worried, but with 15, those 3 are just fine.
