Muskrat Love

by Captain & Tennille

Words and Music: Willis Alan Ramsay

Muskrat, Muskrat, candle light Doing the town

and doing it right in the evening

It's pretty pleasing Muskrat Suzie, Muskrat Sam do the jitterbug

out in Muskrat Land And they shimmy...

Sam is so skinny And they whirl and they twirl and they tango

Singing and jinging a jango

Floating like the heavens above

Looks like Muskrat Love.

Nibbling on bacon, chewing on cheese Sam says to Suzie,

Honey, would you please be my Mrs?

Suzie says yes with her kisses

Now he's tickling her fancy,

rubbing her toes muzzle to muzzle now,

anything goes as they wriggle,

Sue starts to giggle

You hit the ground running, didn't you. As much as I loved America, that was a bad song when they did it too.

OK, here's one that I always hated...

I remember to this day

The bright red Georgia clay

And how it stuck to the tires

After the summer rain

Will power made that old car go

A woman's mind told me that so

Oh how I wish

We were back on the road again

Me and you and a dog named boo

Travelin' and livin' off the land

Me and you and a dog named boo

How I love being a free man

I can still recall

The wheat fields of St. Paul

And the morning we got caught

Robbing from an old hen

Old McDonald he made us work

But then he paid us for what it was worth

Another tank of gas

And back on the road again

I'll never forget the day

We motored stately into big L.A.

The lights of the city put settlin'

Down in my brain

Though it's only been a month or so

That old car's buggin' us to go

We've gotta get away and get back on

The road again

How's this ;)

Lovin' you is easy cause you're beautiful

Makin' love with you is all I wanna do

Lovin' you is more than just a dream come true

And everything that I do is out of lovin' you

La la la la la la la... do do do do do

No one else can make me feel

The colors that you bring

Stay with me while we grow old

And we will live each day in springtime

Cause lovin' you has made my life so beautiful

And every day my life is filled with lovin' you

Lovin' you I see your soul come shinin' through

And every time that we oooooh

I'm more in love with you

La la la la la la la... do do do do do

But if you want to put "Indiana wants me" on the B side of "Me and You and a Dog Named Boo" you've got yourself one double sided piece of s***!

This is, without a doubt, the worst song that I have ever heard (even worse than the lyrics that you'll find on commercial rap songs, if that is possible).

Huh huh huh hu-uh huh

So true funny how it seems

always in time, but never in line for dreams.

Head over heels when toe to toe.

This is the sound of my soul,

this is the sound.

I bought a ticket to the world,

but now I've come back again.

Why do I find it hard to write the next line?

Oh I want the truth to be said.

Huh huh huh hu-uh huh

I know this much is true.

Huh huh huh hu-uh huh

I know this much is TRUUUUUE

With a thrill in my head and a pill on my tongue

dissolve the nerves that have just begun.

Listening to Marvin (all night long.)

This is the sound of my soul,

this is the sound.

Always slipping from my hands,

sand's a time of its own.

Take your seaside arms and write the next line.

Oh I want the truth to be known.

Huh huh huh hu-uh huh

I know this much is true.

Huh huh huh hu-uh huh

I know this much is TRUUUUUE

I bought a ticket to the world,

but now I've come back again.

Why do I find it hard to write the next line?

Oh I want the truth to be said.

Huh huh huh hu-uh huh

I know this much is true.

Huh huh huh hu-uh huh

I know this much is TRUUUUUE

This much is true.

I know, I know, I know this much is true.

Brando, do you mean We've only Just Begun? The #1 graduation song from 1970 to 1980?

And how about one for Nuke "Billy" Cleveland?

The marchin' band came down along Main Street

The soldier-blues fell in behind

I looked across and there I saw Billy

Waiting to go and join the line

And with her head upon his shoulder

His young and lovely fiancee

From where I stood, I saw she was cryin'

And through her tears I heard her say

"Billy, don't be a hero, don't be a fool with your life"

"Billy, don't be a hero, come back and make me your wife"

And as he started to go she said "Billy, keep your head lo-o-ow"

"Billy, don't be a hero, come back to me"

The soldier-blues were trapped on a hillside

The battle raging all around

The sergeant cried "We've got to hang on, boys"

"We got to hold this piece a'ground"

"I need a volunteer to ride up"

"And bring us back some extra men"

And Billy's hand was up in a moment

Forgettin' all the words she said

She said

"Billy, don't be a hero, don't be a fool with your life"

"Billy, don't be a hero, come back and make me your wife"

And as he started to go she said "Billy, keep your head lo-o-ow"

"Billy, don't be a hero, come back to me"

I heard his fiancee got a letter

That told how Billy died that day

The letter said that he was a hero

She should be proud he died that way

I heard she threw that letter away

Wow. How do you follow up Spandau Ballet?

With Kajagoogoo, of course... ;)

Tongue tied or short of breath, don't even try, try a little harder.

Something's wrong, I'm not naive you must be strong,

ooh baby try, hey girl, move a little closer

You're too shy shy hush hush eye to eye

Too shy shy hush hush eye to eye

Too shy shy hush hush eye to eye

Too shy shy hush hush hush

Modern medicine falls short of your complaint, try a little harder

You're moving in circles won't you dilate,

ooh baby try, hey girl, move a little closer

You're too shy shy hush hush eye to eye

Too shy shy hush hush eye to eye

Too shy shy hush hush eye to eye

Too shy shy hush hush hush

You're too shy shy hush hush eye to eye

Too shy shy hush hush eye to eye

Too shy shy hush hush eye to eye

Too shy shy hush hush hush

But where does all this come from? A song writer of course and . . .

Written by: Bruce Johnston

I've been alive forever, and I wrote the very first song

I put the words and the melodies together

I am music and I write the songs

I write the songs that make the whole world sing

I write the songs of love and special things

I write the songs that make the young girls cry

I write the songs, I write the songs

My home lies deep within you

And I've got my own place in your soul

Now, when I look out through your eyes

I'm young again, even though I'm very old

Oh my music makes you dance

And gives you spirit to take a chance

And I wrote some rock 'n' roll so you can move

Music fills your heart

Well, that's a real fine place to start

It's from me it's for you

It's from you, it's for me

It's a worldwide symphony

Oh, Mandy.  Well you kissed me and stopped me from shaking - but I sent you away

Oh, Mandy, well you came and you gave without taking - Now I need you to stay Oh, Mandy.

That song inspired one of the greatest parodies of all time

Oh Wally, I called and you gave me some pantyhose . . .

Yep, Steve Dahl's Wally Phillips song was a gem.

What?! Unfathomable. ;)

America's smooth beats and summer-night lyrics transitioned the nation through a decade in which Disco ravaged the airways, and the ideals set forth in Easy Rider were a distant memory. Throughout this tulmultous period for rock music (where numerous artists appeared to have lost their roots) America stayed true and seemingly led the path for groups such as Alabama, Eagles, CSN.

I hate to do this, but...

Joan was quizzical; studied pataphysical

Science in the home.

Late nights all alone with a test tube.

Oh, oh, oh, oh.

Maxwell Edison, majoring in medicine,

Calls her on the phone.

"Can I take you out to the pictures,

Joa, oa, oa, oan?"

But as she's getting ready to go,

A knock comes on the door.

Bang! Bang! Maxwell's silver hammer

Came down upon her head.

Bang! Bang! Maxwell's silver hammer

Made sure that she was dead.

Back in school again Maxwell plays the fool again.

Teacher gets annoyed.

Wishing to avoid and unpleasant

Sce, e, e, ene,

She tells Max to stay when the class has gone away,

So he waits behind

Writing fifty times "I must not be

So, o, o, o.."

But when she turns her back on the boy,

He creeps up from behind.

Bang! Bang! Maxwell's silver hammer

Came down upon her head.

Bang! Bang! Maxwell's silver hammer

Made sure that she was dead.

P. C. Thirty-one said, "We caught a dirty one."

Maxwell stands alone

Painting testimonial pictures.

Oh, oh, oh, oh.

Rose and Valerie, screaming from the gallery

Say he must go free

(Maxwell must go free)

The judge does not agree and he tells them

So, o, o, o.

But as the words are leaving his lips,

A noise comes from behind.

Bang! Bang! Maxwell's silver hammer

Came down upon his head.

Bang! Bang! Maxwell's silver hammer

Made sure that he was dead.

Whoa, oh, oh, oh.

Silver hammer man.

pretty much every pop song but especially...

"Livin' La Vida Loca"

She's into superstitions black cats and voodoo dolls.

I feel a premonition that girl's gonna make me fall.

She's into new sensations new kicks in the candle light.

She's got a new addiction for every day and night.

She'll make you take your clothes off and go dancing in the rain.

She'll make you live her crazy life but she'll take away your pain

like a bullet to your brain. Come On!

[CHORUS:]

Upside, inside out she's livin la vida loca

She'll push and pull you down, livin la vida loca

Her lips are devil red and her skin's the color mocha

She will wear you out livin la vida loca Come On!

Livin la vida loca, Come on!

She's livin la vida loca.

Woke up in New York City in a funky cheap hotel

She took my heart and she took my money

she must've slipped me a sleeping pill

She never drinks the water and makes you order French Champagne

Once you've had a taste of her you'll never be the same

Yeah, she'll make you go insane.

[CHORUS]

She'll make you take your clothes off and go dancing in the rain.

She'll make you live her crazy life

but she'll take away your pain like a bullet to your brain. Come On!

[CHORUS]

How about this gem that goes to the heart of teenage isolation . . .

I rode my bicycle past your window last night

I roller skated to your door at daylight

It almost seems like you're avoiding me

I'm okay alone, but you got something I need

Well, I got a brand new pair of roller skates

You got a brand new key

I think that we should get together and try them out you see

I been looking around awhile

You got something for me

Oh! I got a brand new pair of roller skates

You got a brand new key

I ride my bike, I roller skate, don't drive no car

Don't go too fast, but I go pretty far

For somebody who don't drive

I been all around the world

Some people say, I done all right for a girl

Well, I got a brand new pair of roller skates

You got a brand new key

I think that we should get together and try them out you see

I been looking around awhile

You got something for me

Oh! I got a brand new pair of roller skates

You got a brand new key

I asked your mother if you were at home

She said, yes .. but you weren't alone

Oh, sometimes I think that you're avoiding me

I'm okay alone, but you've got something I need

Well, I got a brand new pair of roller skates

You got a brand new key

I think that we should get together and try them out to see

La la la la la la la la, la la la la la la

Oh! I got a brand new pair of roller skates

You got a brand new key

"Playground In My Mind" - Clint Holmes

"My name is Michael, I've got a nickel, I've got a nickel shiny and new

I'm gonna buy me all kinds of candy, that's what I'm gonna do", etc., ad nauseam

Clint Homes, didn't he do Escape, The Pina Colada song? Another gem

Yeah by that lady who loved to eat.

The song is ok, but that video of them on different platforms....And I generally have nothnig against 70's - or bad music for that matter. I've been known to rewind first 10 minutes of Carrie.
