Favorite Road Signs or City Names

Featured Replies

In a more lighthearted topic, what are some of your favorite road signs or city names?

One that you Michganders can relate to, and I crack up everytime I go by:

I-75 exit 69

Big Beaver Road.

Justamere Road

You cross it when traveling west on Midlothian Turnpike; it's a few blocks east of Ridgeland.

Dude, take a pic of that and send it to Maxim Magazine. It'd look funny as hell in their "unintentional porn" section.

Basketville. A lot more funnier one's but I can't remember any off hand.

Another Michigan one I remember is Climax, Michigan.

And there's a road that leads into Climax, that you have to go through Hell, Michigan.

So to get to Climax you have to go through Hell.

what the hell are you driving I75 for?

vacationing or family?

or just for the sign?

Big Beaver Road is a remnant of the fur trapping days in this state and how it got to be exit 69, who knows, but it works!

I've driven it a few times when I lived in Fort Wayne, I went through Toledo to get to Detroit.

Driven past there when we went to look at the Cyclone.

Climax is a township, Calhoun County and you get to Climax on I94.

Hell is Shiawassee County I think and they do a good business all year and especially Halloween. We also have a Christmas which I think is in the UP but I could be wrong on that.

We also have Nirvanna (a bit north and west of me).

We have the Tittabawassee River (in the thumb).

There are others but I can't think right now.

I trust you enjoyed the Pistons winning, Mr. Fort Wayne Guy! :headbang :headbang

Big Beaver Road is in Troy essentially as I recall from when I lived there. I have to look at map to be sure. But it is north of Detroit, yes?

I know I thought it was cool. I live 5 min away from where the Pistons used to play while in Fort Wayne. They're actually razing that gym this summer though; it's in North Side High School. NSHS is the second oldest HS in Fort Wayne, to my South Side HS, where I just graduated.

IIRC, it's on the north side of Detroit... somewhere near Troy?

There is a town 30 miles away from my house it is called Bangor!

East and West Big Beaver Road do run through Troy, north of Maple, north of 14 Mile Road (Detroit nothern limit is as we all know 8 Mile Road) and runs into Birmingham. I just looked it up. Mapquest shows the Exit 69 too but I couldn't get the picture to copy.

And the original Big Beaver Road comes out of the Rogue River, French trapping area back in the day,

It's been in there already.

I drive past it every year on the way to the Grand Geneva.

Driving east on 74 from Champaign there is an exit called "G Street"

I find it amusing.

F***ing, Austrailia

Austria, not Australia Kap. It makes more sense that the town would have survived all these years in a non-English speaking country.

Indeed. Typo. I'll go back and fix it.

I never can find that one, even though I'm sure I'm real close. That's when my wife loses her patience with me and says it would be better if she was doing the driving. ;)

actually my favorite road sign is the one that says, "U.S. Cellular Field, next exit." :headbang :headbang :headbang :headbang

I really want to get to Chi-town this summer but I just don't know. I guess it all depends on when we close on the house.
