Thomas to the DL

Thomas placed on DL, Borchard recalled

Just one day after activating star right fielder Magglio Ordonez from the 15 day DL, the White Sox placed designated hitter Frank Thomas on the DL with a sore left ankle.

Thomas’ ankle may require surgery, which could put him out of action for six weeks, close to what Ordonez missed.

Frank was batting .271 with 18 home runs and 49 driven in for the White Sox.

After putting Thomas on the DL, GM Kenny Williams recalled OF Joe Borchard to the White Sox. In limited time with the Sox, Borchard has a career average of .200 with 3 home runs and 10 RBI’s.

The 25-year-old Borchard was batting .267 with 16 home runs and 48 RBI’s for AAA Charlotte.

This is Borchard’s first stint with the White Sox in 2004. He was previously with the ball club for minimal time in 2003 and 2002.

Ordonez will likely nurse his sore leg in the DH role, and Borchard will make his mark in right field for the White Sox.

anyone know if he'll be up in time for tonights game?
