March 10, 200323 yr Is it going to be Danny? I think it's been about 4 days since they said they were going to give him a few days off, so it could be him. But more than likely it'll be Mark or Bartolo. Anyone know?
March 10, 200323 yr I'll answer my own question...it's going to be Mark. vs NL rookie of the year Jason Jennings ooooooooooh
March 10, 200323 yr Author Thank god. It sounds like these announcers know what they're doing. And Frank's playing. BTW, coming into today's game, D'Angelo is 6-20 this spring with 4 walks and 2 strikeouts. That's pretty decent. 10 times on base in 24 opportunities -- not too shabby.

March 10, 200323 yr Author you are courting trouble from the Miles fan club - be careful! I fear not. A .417 OBP is perfect for this team. If he can do that in the regular season, 2003 will be a high-scoring affair. Let Miles pay his dues -- Jimenez has come back from a near-death accident, so IMO he deserves a chance at the major league level. If he fails, so be it. But if we don't give him a chance, how will we ever know what he's capable of? Also, after hearing that Miles had 40 walks in 500 AB's, there is NO WAY he should be our lead-off hitter. That is simply an unacceptable statistic.
March 10, 200323 yr Author f*** these announcers. I don't care if they're Chicago announcers or not. They just said something extremely unacceptable. They were ragging on the fact that Frank is 2-14 this Spring. They go "He's gonna have to do better than 2 for 14 if he's gonna make this squad. He'll make it anyway, but he just won't play much." They, of course, didn't mention the fact that he's hardly playing. Just then, he cracked a HR to left. :fyou Frank doubters

That's pretty decent. 10 times on base in 24 opportunities -- not too shabby. you are courting trouble from the Miles fan club - be careful! I'm part of the Aaron Miles fan club, but there is no way Miles should start over Jimenez. Its Jimenez's job at the start of the season and it will be his unless he absolutely bombs. I do rate Miles as the backup plan if Jimenez fails cause he is a better option leading off then Willie Harris.
March 10, 200323 yr Author Another fine outing by Mark. 4 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 1 BB Maybe he'll come out for the 5th -- I don't think he's thrown that many pitches. 1-0 Sox, Frank's 1st HR of the Spring accounting for the only run. We've basically got our starting team out there today... Lee, Harris, Mags, Crede, Valentin, D'Angelo, Frank, Olivo (I think)
March 10, 200323 yr Thanks for the update. Mark, Jon and Bartolo have all been looking great thus far in spring.
March 10, 200323 yr Author 5 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 2 BB, 1K for Mark. Nice. Still 1-0 (Frank's 1st HR). On a side note, tomorrow we'll have Bartolo on the mound.
March 10, 200323 yr Author - Konerko PH single, runner on 1st - Jimenez BB, runners on 1st and 2nd - Valentin RBI 2B (2-0 Sox), run in, runners on 2nd and 3rd - Thomas line out to 3rd, still runners on 2nd and 3rd - Mags looper to right, 2 score (4-0 Sox), Mags on 1st - Lee strikeout - Crede groundout to 3rd Through 5 1/2, Sox up 4-0
March 10, 200323 yr Author White in for the 6th - Popup - Popup - K 1-2-3, end 6, 4-zip Sox So far, so good -- the Rockies have a decent offense, too.
March 10, 200323 yr Author Top 7, Sox up 4-0 - Olivo K (ugh) - Harris 2B off right field wall - Konerko 2-run HR to Center (yyyyyeeeeeeeeessssssssss!!), 6-0 good guys - Miles (in for D'Angelo) groundout to 1st on a 3-1 count - Rios (in for Valentin) double down the left field line (I think) - Valenzuela grounds to 3rd, throw to 1st is low, gets away, Rios scores, 7-0 - Someone singled, 1st and 3rd with 2 out - Sanders hitting ... something happened (was busy)... inning over 7-0 Sox
March 10, 200323 yr Author David Sanders in... - Serves up a lead-off HR, 7-1 Sox - Basehit FYI, Crede is the only starter still in the game - Flyout, 1 out, 1 on - Wild pitch, runner to 2nd - Strikeout, 2 outs, runner on 2nd - Looper to left falls in, runner scores, 7-2 Sox, runner on 1st - Double, runners on 2nd and 3rd - Groundout, runners stranded End 7, 7-2 good guys
March 10, 200323 yr Damn, I wish Sanders did better. I thought he looked pretty solid, but I don't see him beating out Wunsch. I don't think anyone will, but Munoz is damn good.
March 10, 200323 yr Author - Crede lead-off double to start the 8th (2nd hit of the day for him ) - Morales (one of our young catchers) lined out, Crede safely back to 2nd - Graffanino strikes out, 2 out, Crede still standing at 2nd - Konerko HBP (and he's upset), 1st and 2nd with 2 out - Miles groundout to 1st (0-2 on the day), 3 outs, 2 stranded They're talking about how Frank talked before the game about his approach to hitting and how he's going to focus on hitting the ball to center field. Through 7 1/2, 7-2 Sox
March 10, 200323 yr Interesting. I wasn't able to see Frank when I was there this weekend, but hopefully he's ripping the ball. I can't wait till the Sox get one of their games televised. Can anyone tell me when the Sox are broadcasting a spring training game?
March 10, 200323 yr Author Bottom 8, Porzio in. - Walks the lead-off guy They're talking about how Porzio's on the bubble. They seem to think he is in trouble (and I agree, he is). - Triple to left (:angry), run scores, 7-3 Sox - 1 hopper to Rios in left, run scores, 7-4 Sox (WTF is going on with Porzio?) - Popout in the shallow OF, 1 out, runner on 1st Felix Diaz warming up in the pen along with Damaso - Strikeout, 2 outs - Basehit, runner goes to 3rd, runner advances to 2nd on throw (ugh) Porzio replaced with Diaz 2/3 IP, 3 hits, 2 R, 1 BB, 1 SO, responsible for runners on 2nd & 3rd -- another poor outing for Mike - Flyout, runners stranded End 8, 7-4 Sox
March 10, 200323 yr Diaz sure has been pitching sharply. Porzio blows....he'll never beat out someone like Munoz or even Sanders. I think he'll be cut as the Sox add Brian Daubach to the 40 man roster.

Can anyone tell me when the Sox are broadcasting a spring training game? I believe there's a game on the 15th on WGN against the brew crew if I'm not mistaken...
March 10, 200323 yr Sorry but Porzio sucks. Im glad hes the one who stunk it up and not someone whos really important to the team. He aint ever gonna play on the Southside. No big deal.
March 10, 200323 yr Author - Rios lines a basehit to CF (2nd hit of the day ) - Valenzuela chopper to 3rd, throw scooped at 1st, out, Rios to 2nd - Nunez grounds out, Rios to 3rd, 2 out - Sanders HBP, runners on 1st and 3rd with 2 outs Announcers are wondering if someone on the Rockies will be hit by a pitch in the 9th, hehehehe. - Crede ball off pitchers' glove, throw to 1st gets him Going to the bottom of the 9th, Sox up 7-4 Marte might be coming in (he was warming up with Diaz earlier)
