July 26, 200421 yr Author Dizard had an ailing father, as well as arm problems in his USC career. I believe he was thought of as a great recruit when they landed him.
July 26, 200421 yr I thought he relieved more often than not in college, he started some last year in GFs, but I bet the Sox have him projected as a LH reliever. You are correct, but he did make 18 starts in his college career. I just find it odd that a guy with his kind of curve would be relegated to the pen. Then again, its not like many teams could make him a starter as of this point. As long as he gets guys out, he's got a shot to be pretty solid, imo.

Ya, they really liked him, but he couldn't get over the stuff with his father and I think he missed most of one season with some arm injuries. That year he was slated to be a starter. I think it was his sophmore year.

From what I've read and heard, his fastball and curve are plus pitches but his change is really lacking, hence he is in the bullpen. I think he and Deininger are in the same boat: if they want to start, they better stop walking about a guy an inning. Dizard has come along fairly well so I'd leave him in the pen for now.

Ah yes, my favorite sleeper candidate, Deininger. I sure hope he gets his control down cause I'm telling all of you, he has the stuff to be pretty good.
