Florida about to be hit again.

Damn, I hate it for those people down there. A couple of weeks after Hurricane Charley nailed the west coast here comes another monster storm to slam the east coast.

Hunker down folks!

It's part of a vast fem nazi conspiracy to attack anything that looks like a penis Be safe :pray

Frances is going to become a cat 5, the local stations are saying, when it crosses the gulf stream.

The Orlando area is saying hurricane force winds for 6 hours straight, unlike Charley - that only lasted about 1-2 hours. They are saying Tropical Storm winds for 8-10 hours... sustained!

But - there is a slight change that a ridge of high pressure can pull it north before it gets to Miami - that remains to be seen, they say, and they should know more about that this afternoon when the hurricane hunters fly through the storm.

That is a big hurricane. Whereever it hits, it's going to be Andrew-esque I think.

Prayers go to people in Florida. We have many distributors that were hit hard by Charley so I don't know what is going to happen to them after this one.

I just read where the physical size of Frances is twice as big as Charley. Also if Frances does hit FLA as a category 4 or higher, it will be the first time in recorded US weather history that two category 4 hurricanes have ever hit the same state within a month.

All the computer models are starting to converge now... between West Palm and Melbourne...

and Orlando is in the bullseye as well.

I'm trying to get the company to do something in regards to raising funds, food or clothing, but I am willing to bet they won't do anything. One way or another I figured it couldn't hurt to try.

How about soxtalk. Anyone want to start a collection if it hits?

I would be more than willing. How would we go about organizing such a thing?

That ain't a bad idea, actually.

They are running out of gas at all the gas stations too in the Orlando area.

Weird stuff.

I know after Charley they set up a web site...

If you want to give now, you can always do things like give blood, and donate to organizations like the Red Cross who are first responders to natural disasters like this.

Considering a million people are being evacuated, I am not surprised. More than likely, there is no one to bring it in and a bunch of people looking to buy.

 nicest thing you've said to me.

We have a couple options.

1. Pick a charity like the Red Cross, Salvation Army, or whomever and send individual checks referencing Soxtalk.

2. Have a volunteer, probably not in the storm path, accept all the checks, bundle them, and give them to the choosen charity.

I've pinned this so anyone that wants the link to red cross can get it and if there are other ways people can come up with for us to help. If anyone feels it shouldn't be pinned, unpin away! ;)

So far we have:

Blood donations

Cash to the Red Cross

:fyou

Is that better? ;)

The Bahamas got beat up pretty good by Frances. Looks like the storm has weakened a little over night, but still is packing plenty of punch. It could still add some strength today before it makes landfall.

My grama, aunt, & uncle left melbourne this morning.. just got off the phone with my sister who is busy boarding up their house.. not going to be a fun few days down there. They are telling them they could be without power for 2 weeks, and possibility of 15 inches of rain. :o
