September 22, 200421 yr The difference is Self wasn't at Illinois long enough to build anything and lets not forget that it was actually Lon Krueger who really made it possible for Self to build a very good team at Illinois by putting together the Elite 8 team. How is that, my argument against Self was he wasn't at Illinois long enough to build a program and the same thing goes for Larry Brown. The only reason I brought up Krueger is that it seems people have the belief that Self is the one and only reason Illinois basketball is at currents level.
