October 13, 200421 yr Ah, I didn't put much thought into it; it was just something that popped into my head as I was writing. I did read in the paper though, that the Cubs were considering signing Clement back, and either putting Wood or Zambrano as the closer. This can't be true though.
October 13, 200421 yr For either konerko or lee we better get a j.d. drew type deal. If not we would be better not making it at all. Maybe it's just me, but I don't see the Sox getting a JD Drew type deal for Paul Konerko. You know, we're not the only ones who have access to stats. Other GM's see that PK couldn't even hit .240 on the road... That being said, I'm not implying that we should just trade PK for a bag of balls. I think we can get a nice deal for Konerko - but I doubt it would be the caliber of the Drew deal. Someone mentioned Hairston and Julio for Konerko. IMHO, that's just about right - and if that deal was on the table, I think I'd do it (though I'm not very familiar with Julio...).

Much easier to find a closer than a stud starting pitcher.
October 13, 200421 yr Author As much as I love Zambrano and boy would I LOVE him on the southside, their is no way Jim Hendry will even think about it. If the cubs need anything this offseason, it would be left handed hitting and the Sox can't exactly offer up something they don't have. Now if the Sox were willing to take on Sosa's albatross contract, well then things could get interesting ...but I don't see that happening nor would I want to see that happen.
