Lance Berkman

ESPN 1000 is reporting Berkman has a torn ACL and will be out for atleast 6 months. They said no details on how the injury happened.

Wow.. :o

Supposedly he was playing flag football. Why do all these pro athletes get hurt so badly playing in their backyards? Here's a link. He is simply one of the best players in the game today, I :pray he's not out too long and comes back in top shape.

Lance Berkman suffered a torn ACL and likely will miss the start of next season.

First Rocco and now Lance? The Astros aren't saying how Berkman hurt himself. Given that he's due to become a free agent next winter, this could really cost him. Perhaps he'll be able to return after missing the first month or two of next season, but he probably won't be 100 percent until 2006. This news means the Astros will have to bring in another veteran outfielder, assuming that Carlos Beltran leaves. Jason Lane will play regularly initially and battle the veteran free agent for at-bats after Berkman returns. Nov. 5 - 4:55 pm et

Per Rotoworld.

If it costs him too much, I hope the Sox pick him off. (I know, pipe dream.) There're only a few position players anywhere as good as Berkman.

Atleast he has all off season to recover.

I was wondering what the first Rocco meant. Sure enough, it meant what I thought...

Rocco Baldelli will miss 6-9 months after having his torn left ACL repaired today, trainer Ken Crenshaw said.

"There was concern that Rocco had torn the meniscus (cartilage) in the knee, but there was no tear and the bruising on the end of the bone was not as severe as first thought," Crenshaw said. "Given Rocco's outstanding work ethic, we are optimistic he will make a full recovery." A full recovery is likely, but it may not happen until 2006. It's likely that Baldelli will miss at least the first month or two of next season. Nov. 5

Damn, Rocco and Berkman. That's rough :o

You beat me to it wite. At least Rocco didn't tear that meniscus. He'll make a full recovery. Duno about Berk though.

I wonder if the Astros would be interested in Everett? :D

That's what I was thinking. There could actually be a small market interested in him, mainly the D-Rays, Astros, Giants and Orioles.

While I have faith in Everret getting in shape this off-season, what a load of the Sox back would it be to get 4 mil off the book.

Agreed 100%.

Everett staying or going is something I could care less about. He will be good for us next year, but if he's traded, I won't shed a tear. His $4 mill off the books would open up a lot more doors to other players being brought in.

That $4 mill could be the difference between us getting a true #1 starter or a mid rotation guy.
