December 2, 200421 yr Author yeah haynes should get enuf playing time at DT and DE to keep him satisfied i still think we need another good DT though....but oh well if we upgrade seriously on offense Ian Scott will be good enuf Plus I think the Bears are still pretty high on Tank Johnson. Scott doesn't look bad though, has some potential, imo.
December 2, 200421 yr Update on the defensive backfield: By David Haugh Tribune staff reporter December 2, 2004 From the day he took the job, Bears coach Lovie Smith has maintained his desire to get the 11 best players on the field at the same time. Starting cornerback Charles Tillman's return Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings challenged Smith to devise a way to do that defensively, and he found a creative way. Expect veteran cornerback R.W. McQuarters to start at free safety against the Vikings to make room for Tillman, who will start opposite Jerry Azumah. Rookie cornerback Nathan Vasher, the team's interceptions leader with four, will be in the mix on nickel downs. Todd Johnson, who has not made enough big plays for the coaching staff's liking subbing for the injured Mike Brown, will take a seat.
December 2, 200421 yr Angelo has done a good job of locking up the key guys on defense if only he could get some people on offense
December 2, 200421 yr They locked up Bryan Robinson quickly too... :rolly If they had the $, they should have saved it for a backup QB.
December 2, 200421 yr At least we can look forward to having a good defense for a few years to come Brown's signing means that the Bears' young emerging defense will remain intact for the foreseeable future. Other key players under contract for the next several years include Brian Urlacher (2011), Adewale Ogunleye (2009), Mike Brown (2008), Tommie Harris (2008) and Charles Tillman (2007).
