SoxFan562004
Boers and Bernstein just read a Newsday article saying at the Mets organizational meeting yesterday they basically realized they don't want the possibility of a Bonds/Giambi like fallout around their team if they got Sosa. They're having major doubts about pursuing a trade.
CubKilla
But Sosa isn't on steroids..... just Flintstone Vitamins. How long do you think the names of the juicers have been known to most in MLB? I'm gonna go on record now and say Selig and Company know EXACTLY who has and who has not been juicing. Sosa's name, coupled with the Mets backing off talks of trades for him, is probably known as a juicer league-wide.

Rex Hudler
If I were a GM, I'd think twice about offering anyone a large or long term contract right now. You never know what may come out of all this. In fact, this really could give the owners their own excuse for collusion in this free agent market if they were smart. They don't even need to discuss it with each other.

I think there are some apparently obvious users, but I bet close to 50% of all players have used. I guy might be 210 lbs, that's not neccesarily freakishly huge, so he doesn't draw attention, but maybe without the juice, he's only 185 lbs. It would be sweet for the Cubs to be stuck with Sammy and THEN for him to get busted, that would be perfect.
SoxFan562004
Right, it's easy to see the guys who are using THG or steroids like Decca that blow you up, but then there's steroids like Winstrall that won't give you huge popeye muscles, but will make you leaner. There's probably a ton of guys who did this type of steroid, and those guys look slimmer sometimes

Winstrol gets you cut.. usually you take winstrol after your bulking phase to get cut

If the contract has wording in there (and if the Yankees get by w/ it on the Giambi contract) that could leave open a massive gesture of being able to get out of a contract, regardless of length or size. LosMediasBlancas
It's hard to explain, but once you've been around guys that juice or if you've ever juiced yourself, you can ALWAYS look at a guy and tell if he's juicing. It's soemthing about the build. McGuire and Sammy I bet were on the hard stuff like Decca or D Bol. Bonds and Giambi look like they've been on some new and improved s***. EvilJester99
Most times you can tell when someones on or did the HGH. Just look at the size and or shape of their friggin head. hehe

Like someone else posted, it helps hide a huge bulk -up.... also any steroid helps muscle recovery, thus better workouts

If the contract has wording in there (and if the Yankees get by w/ it on the Giambi contract) that could leave open a massive gesture of being able to get out of a contract, regardless of length or size. Who cares if the contract has wording to get a team out of it. I am talking about the PR hit a team would take if they sign a guy to a huge deal only to find 6 months later he has been a big steroid user. Egg on one's face isn't a good thing and if I were a GM, I'd be careful about what I was doing right now.
Rex Hudler
But if the goal of a baseball player is to gain strength, wouldn't using a steroid that minimizes size also mean less strength gains? Maintaining flexibility is key to a baseball player. Bulking up too much, can actually slow their bat down and hurt their baseball skills. See Jose Canseco for one example.
