C_LEE45
Astros and rangers are talking about a trade that would send Soriano for Badke and Burke,a Great deal for Houston so my question is why wouldnt kenny be looking to trade for Soriano ?And if the reason is the money, then i would trade for soriano and then trade konerko. greasywheels121
I'm pretty content with where the roster is now; however, if we were to make any more moves, I'd like it to be the acquisition of a 2Bman. Still, I don't think I want Soriano. As it's been said in other threads, he's the exact kind of player we're trying to get rid of. We already had the poor man's version of Soriano in Valentin. I'd rather see us sign/trade for a contact 2Bman.

Punch and Judy Garland
Houston has about 11 starters. I assume that is what Trexas will be looking for. We don't really match up there. That said, I htink Kenny has had at least some interest in Sori in the past. Most of the stat guys around here don't want him, but I think he'd rake pretty good here. HIs defense is not good but it's not quite as atrocious as advertised. He had an awful start at 2nd last year, played pretty decent for a long time, and then reverted to more errors form what I can recall. He's a low obp/high k guy but he can run and his bat is electric. If we had in excess what Texas wanted, I'd go for it-but we don't seem to. \ Texas is trading Soriano due to a high arbitration amount and no long term contract certainty. Why would his numbers decline in a hitters park at age 28? Sort of weird

Pods Rowand Soriano Thomas Dye A.J Uribe Crede Gload I dont see how this would help us. We get rid of our best RBI man in Konerko to sign a guy who is terrible in the field and strikes out 120 times a season. Also soriano's stats went down when he went from Yankee stadium to a notorious hitters park in Texas, so it is likely his stats wouldnt go up very much at USCF. Also I dont know why so many people think Gload is ready for the starting 1B job. You cant go by what he did for half a season last year. CanOfCorn
I've seen Chris Burke play at AA Round Rock and this kid is going to be damn good. i don't know if he will have the power numbers Biggio has, but he is in theh Biggio mold. Scrappy, quick, above average 2B. Backe has some pretty good numbers and a decent upside. Soriano is not what the Astros need.
JUGGERNAUT
Soriano vs Westbrook, Sabathia : 182, 1192 Soriano vs Maroth, Johnson : 1556, 879 Soriano vs Santana, Radke : 400, 556 The answer is no. Koney has better numbers than that. Koney vs Westbrook, Sabathia : 1064, 487 Koney vs Maroth, Johnson : 735, 917 Koney vs Santana, Radke : 538, 836 We need guys who can succeed against Westbrook, & Radke more than anything else. JUGGERNAUT
Another thread has Luis Castillo mentioned. He has hardly any experience against any of the top 6 in the ALC but he does have a 774 OPS vs Milwood. I think overall, the CWS should look for guys with high OBP's first & SLG 2nd. That would place Castillo over Soriano. Uribe proved that just about any one can slug at the Cell. But we need guys who can hit & get on more than sluggers.
