Computer Speakers

Featured Replies

Hey guys, after my first semester at college, I have decided its ridiculous to lug my huge music collection to and from school each and every time I travel. I have upwards of 400+ cds, and its incredibly difficult to take care of that many cds. Hell, half the time I don't even listen to music because it takes all day to find the cd I'm looking for if I'm not at home (I have them all listed alphabetically at home...dork).

So, what a lot of my friends have done is put all their music on iTunes and bought really nice speakers (with sub woofer) to attach to their laptops. This way, all of their music is at their fingertips and you never have to worry about lugging cds or even a stereo; the stereo stays at home, the cds stay at home...it is really the way to go.

Herein lies the problem, I'm not really familiar with this market. Do any of you have any recommendations or suggestions on computer speakers? I'm looking for something that packs a punch (you know I like it loud) with a nice sub, that is moderately priced. I really appreciate the help.

Perfect. Thanks a ton Gashy! :cheers

Expensive but Klipsch also has some good (high wattage) products for the audiophile.

For a decent price I would recommend Logitech.

I just got the six speaker surround system from Altec Lansing, and I love the clean crisp sound it gives me. They're cheap too, only about 100 bucks at the City of Circuits. The Creative THX system is the suck btw, and overpriced at 300.

Yeah, I just got some Altec Lansing speakers for Christmas, just two speakers and sub, and the s*** sounds badass. The limit on the gift was 50 bones, so they probably cost about that much.

I have the Logitech Z-5500 Digital and they kick some major ass. Hooked to the computer I always have to have the sub level really low or else it starts to piss people off. Of ocurse they're pretty expensive but I feel they're well worth the investment. If you look on ebay you can probaly find a good set of Logitech speakers for way cheaper than brand new. Thats how I bough the Z-5500's. I'm sure a 2 speaker set-up from they would be pretty damn good.

I had to put mine on a table so that the floor wouldn't shake. Although I think the carpet sucked up most of the bass.
