March 25, 200521 yr Update on Frank White Sox: Big Hurt reluctant to run full speed by Fanball Staff - Fanball.com Friday, March 25, 2005 News White Sox DH/1B Frank Thomas, who's recovering from ankle surgery, is reluctant to run at full speed because of the two screws in his ankle, according to the Daily Herald. "He just needs to get running,'' trainer Herm Schneider said. "That's the big hurdle, and he's a little apprehensive about that. He's got a little bit of a phobia for it right now. Slowly but surely, we'll get him through it. But it may take a little while.'' Thomas is targeting late April or early May for his return. Views At this point, Thomas still isn't comfortable running in spikes, which seems like a problem. We're not sure if his target date is being overzealous. If you're drafting this weekend, Thomas might be available late in the draft, and if he is, he's worth the risk. www.yahoo.com www.fanball.com
March 25, 200521 yr Levine said this morning on AM1000 that he spoke to Frank Thomas yesterday and Frank thinks he'll be ready in 30 days, probably right at May 1st. In other Levine thoughts, he believes Borchard will go down to Charlotte for consistent at bats, the Sox are still leery of trading him (for now) because he looks much better at the plate is making more consistent contact. Levine felt the Sox position on Borchard could change by mid season because this is the last option year and they'd risk losing him for nothing. Also, he (Levine) believes Pablo Ozuna has made the team.
March 25, 200521 yr If Borchard turns it around, we're going to have a nice stock of OFers to work with here.

March 25, 200521 yr Last night, I watched a Comcast SportsNet Chicago interview with Frank Thomas by Mitch Robinson. It was good to see Frank and he said he will listen to Herm as far as his progress goes. Frank even admitted his apprehension to run hard as the article above says. He realizes it wouldn't be a great idea to come back too soon and risk re-injury. He damn sure doesn't want to get injured again and lose more time. He also said he feels like he's 20 years old again and misses baseball alot. He mentioned that he would like to play until he's 42. Frank was very upbeat and couldn't wait to play with the rest of the guys. Frank said that he loves Kenny because he's a no-nonsense GM and will move a guy if he isn't giving 100% (no doubt, a Carlos Lee reference). He said that this makes all the guys try their hardest and give it their all. He is already live hitting and he said he launched a few out of the park at camp! Frank has the biggest smile in all of baseball and he looked extremely happy in the interview. Edited March 25, 200521 yr by Jabroni

March 25, 200521 yr QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Mar 25, 2005 -> 12:18 PM) No, I think Harris will be on the team until Thomas returns... i'm looking at it like this. Ozuna takes willies spot from last year....and willie is in for Thomas until he returns.
