A 23-year-old Central Florida woman has been charged with making false statements about a rape that left Rollins College students scared to walk the campus, according to WKMG-TV in Orlando.

In November, Desiree Nall, (pictured, left) told Winter Park police that she was raped by two men in a Rollins College bathroom.

"The college was on high alert and the neighborhood was in confusion because there was a lot of fear," Winter Park police spokesman Wayne Farrell said.

Investigators told WKMG-TV that Nall confessed to making up the story.

Nall is the president of the Brevard Chapter of the National Organization for Women, Local 6 News reported. Police said she may have been trying to make a statement when she lied about the rape.

"Lying about that story is absolutely horrible because women are victimized every day.," Rollins student Elizabeth Humphrey said. "And if we get the reputation of lying, then people won't start to believe us if it does happen."

WKMG-TV spoke with Nall's husband at the couple's home in Palm Bay. He would only say something did happen but the full story has not been told, according to the report.

Nall could spend up to a year in jail and be forced to pay back tens of thousands of dollars police spent of the investigation.

hope she gets both of these charges coming to her

And I hope she has to apologize to the students, rape survivors in general, and has some community service hours required at her local rape crisis shelter.

I assume that in order for her claim to have gotten this far, there must have been a medical exam to determine that sex had occured, right?

Her husband said that 'something did happen' and that the full story hasn't been told. Here is my guess:

Maybe wifie was into some extra marital situations with these 2 guys, had to cover it up somehow and cried rape.

No kidding. I wonder how often defense lawyers will use this case to defend actual rapists. :headshake

Way to undermine a very serious problem on college campuses, idiot. :chair

Forensics can often tell based on physical evidence whether sex was forced or not.

Which is not at all 100% accurate. That type of evidence can be manufactured, or the result of consentual sex with a large partner, or rough sex.

I would imagine they check for signs beyond the obvious places too. Wrists and hands would be good places to look.

Rape does not always produce defensive evidence. More often than it does actually.
