April 16, 200322 yr I hyped up Garland all off-season long as the next young pitcher to break out this year. We need a good start from him. Atleast 7 innings of no more than 3 runs.
April 16, 200322 yr I'd take 3 runs in 7 innings, but even if he does pitch that well, Runelvys (I hate this guy) Hernandez may pitch even better.
April 16, 200322 yr I don't have the numbers, but I do remember that he made his debut in KC and he got messed up, pretty big.
April 16, 200322 yr hasn't Garland always had success against KC? didnt he debut against the royals???...and got lit up like a christmas tree???..other than that i really dont remember what he did against the royals
April 16, 200322 yr he's always struggled against the Royals. the only time he showed somewhat success was the end of last season. for the most part, it is probably the hardest team for him.
April 16, 200322 yr I'd say Texas is the hardest against him and then KC. Angels whooped him good last year too.
April 16, 200322 yr The WS MLB site says "The young right-hander [Garland] has found a great deal of success against Kansas City in the past, although he struggled in his first start this season against the Royals on the road. " from MLB WS page on Garland
April 16, 200322 yr If his sinker is working, 3 runs in 7 innings may be a max for runs scored. If it's not, it will be 3 runs in the 1st inning.
April 16, 200322 yr If he actually goes after guys when he has two strikes on him he will be good. If he is just in a daze and tosses one right over the plate with two strikes look for a high scoring game. Hopefully he can get it together and shut them down. I really think that he will bring it together more tonight. Lets win it for the gipper(ME!). To a Sox win.
April 16, 200322 yr If Garland can get out of the first few innings unscathed....I'd watch out. That seems to be when he gets in his rhythm. Against Cleveland, he was hit hard the first few innings....but settled down nicely. If I remember right, he still did take the L because he had no run support....and odds are, he won't have run support.
April 16, 200322 yr Garland is 5-2 against KC Career vs.KC G GS W L SV CG SHO IP H R ER HR BB K ERA WHIP BAA 13 10 5 2 0 0 0 64 62 29 27 6 24 29 3.80 1.34 .229 stats, Garland vs Royals
April 16, 200322 yr I love stats - especially when they show stuff that is contrary to what people believe
April 16, 200322 yr I love stats - especially when they show stuff that is contrary to what people believe It's so fun to prove someone wrong using stats....especially when they believed so firmly that they were right. Especially Flubbie fannies
April 17, 200322 yr check that, he has had success against Royals, but it hasn't been easy. I think those numbers are a bit off and are largely in part to a few really good starts, as opposed to consistent starts.
April 17, 200322 yr Well I guarantee that Texas creams him. his stats against Texas in 2002 weren't that bad.... vs.TEX 1 1 0 0 0 0 0 5 6 4 4 1 3 2 6.75 1.69 .231 Garland 2002 stas v Texas
April 17, 200322 yr where the f*** is murc, president of Jon garland fan club, leaving me alone to stick up for Jon!
April 17, 200322 yr Well I guarantee that Texas creams him. guarentee? Down on Garland? Why? Nope, I just know they always cream him.
April 17, 200322 yr just pointing out who posted that Garland handled KC well over all... when there were doubters --- and Jason, his 2002 stats against Texas, not great, but not that bad...
April 17, 200322 yr jon stepped up big tonight..lets hope he can build on this there was 2 jon garlands out there tonight...the first one was hanging curves and leaving sinkers up...through 4 innings KC was hammering him but couldnt get the big hit..from about the 5th inning on jon started getting good movememnt on the sinker and his curve was snapping off real tight..from that point the royals didnt stand a chance...i hope he figured it out and will go on a nice little run now

If he don't forget about Tucker in the 1st either, motherTucker never scores and he pitches a SO through 7.
