You think he wouldn't?

Not if the polls swing back the other way.

True.

At least it's a posting about Canada; for once.

New Poll Shows Conservative Momentum Stalled

http://www.canoe.ca/NewsStand/LondonFreePr...024557-sun.html

OTTAWA -- A new poll suggests Conservative momentum remained stalled even as Stephen Harper was committing his party to the single-minded pursuit of an immediate federal vote.

The Decima Research survey released yesterday -- just hours after the Conservatives unanimously endorsed a spring or summer election push -- indicated the Liberals had the support of 32 per cent of respondents compared with 29 per cent for the Tories.

Just 14 days ago, Decima and other national polling firms had the Tories surging and the Liberals plummeting to open up a Conservative spread of as much as five points.

"In the last two weeks, we've seen first a pause in that forward momentum and then, this week, numbers that suggest maybe not momentum for the Liberals, but at least a little movement back towards them," said Decima CEO Bruce Anderson.

Ah. I get it. The pollsters didn't care for the results of that earlier conservative gain, so they are doing something about it.

Nope, Conservatives are pushing for an election that only around 30% of the population wants.

Plus the conservative leader saying things like "putting this government out of its misery" and "deal with the devil" don't help.

The Social Democrats now will not support any motion to dissolve the government until the new budget passes.

Also polls during last years election showed Liberals and Conservatives basically tied, then when election came Liberals won by a large gap.

Forgive the lousy form, it's late

Since my last post there have been 4 new polls released that I saw showing a tight right with the Liberals leading 3 and the Conservatives one. In a poll I saw today Liberals were pegged at 32% and Conservatives at 31%.

Here's an interesting assessment

the author favors the Liberals at this point

Still watching with interest. Thanks.

I miss having the CBC on my cable to watch their election night. It's interesting coverage to say the least.

Can't find a link yet to the poll, but along with the massive hit the Conservatives are feeling with losing one of their top ministers the most up to date polls shows them trailing 33 to 31 percent nationally. And in Ontario, the voter rich battleground they now trail by 8 or 9 points (iirc).

The last poll I showed was taken from May 10th to 12th

This one was from the 12th to 16th and had a larger sample size

This poll also took place before this morning's huge announcement, which will probably have a large impact on future polls.

Also note that with the defection of Stronach to the Liberals an election may not happen just yet and the polls may not be really important.

By Thursday night we'll probably know what's going to happen.

Note this poll is taken before yesterday's big ordeal.
