How much did the Giants pay him? 3.7 mil $3.7M a year? I don't think the Sox would have given him that much. Hell, we got Loaiza, Daubach, Rios, White, and Gordon for that much.

April 22, 200322 yr I got to thinking about my comment about all the guys we got in the off-season (I mentioned Daubach, Rios, White, Gordon, and Loaiza) costing about as much as we would have had to give Jose Cruz, which was $3.7M. I decided to check the accuracy of that... Daubach -- $450,000 Rios -- $450,000 Loaiza -- $500,000 Gordon -- $1,400,000 White -- $600,000 That's a total of $3.4M (not factoring in the incentives that I know Loaiza has and I think Daubach has). That's money VERY wisely spent IMO. The Sox may be cheap, but this season we definitely are getting the most for our money talent-wise. Hopefully that talent will reach its potential.

Hell, we got Loaiza, Daubach, Rios, White, and Gordon for that much. what needed to happen was we trade carlos lee and his 4.2 million off to whoever..preferable for a starting pitcher better than jon garland...then we sign cruz and we would have that starting pitcher at a net 500k savings off his salary
April 22, 200322 yr Also when looking at Cruz remember he is hitting behind Barry Bonds in SF. With us he would be hitting 7th or 8th most likely.
