May 26, 200520 yr All I know is that I'd have Herbert Perry on the bench in case we need a clutch pinch-hit.

May 26, 200520 yr QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ May 26, 2005 -> 02:55 PM) C- Carlton Fisk 1B- Dick Allen 2B- Nellie Fox SS- Luke Appling 3B- Robin Ventura OF- Minnie Minoso OF- Sholess Joe Jackson OF- Lance Johnson DH- Frank Thomas SP- Ed Walsh SP- Eddie Cicotte SP- Billy Pierce SP- Black Jack McDowell SP- Wilbur Wood RP- Roberto Hernandez CP- Bobby Thigpen Great list other than the Lance Johnson thing. I assume you were reaching for a leadoff hitter there?
May 26, 200520 yr Great list other than the Lance Johnson thing. I assume you were reaching for a leadoff hitter there? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Someone forgot about Rock Raines.
May 26, 200520 yr As for 2B, my heart says Nellie Fox but the numbers would seem to indicate Eddie Collins.
May 26, 200520 yr It may be unpopular but I'd have to take Maggs over Harold Baines and certainly over Lance Johnson. My outfield would be Shoeless, Minnie and Maggs.
May 26, 200520 yr QUOTE(thomsonmi @ May 26, 2005 -> 06:00 PM) Great list other than the Lance Johnson thing. I assume you were reaching for a leadoff hitter there? It was between Baines, Raines, and Johnson. Baines was a DH more often than OF so I threw him out. Between Raines and Johnson, and for some reason I chose Johnson. Kinda stretching for a lead-off hitter and I liked his ability to take extra bases....making singles into doubles and making doubles into triples. But now, looking at the stats, I'm changing it to Raines.
May 26, 200520 yr And, it shows what a pathetic lot of outfielders we've had over the years in the outfield but Carlos Lee isn't very far down the list of best White Sox outfielders ever.
May 26, 200520 yr No one has mentioned Chet Lemon but he was probably the best centerfielder we've had during my lifetime.
May 26, 200520 yr QUOTE(thomsonmi @ May 26, 2005 -> 06:11 PM) Another good debate... Robin Ventura vs. Bill Melton at third base. You could add Buck Weaver to that mix... Robin Ventura "Beltin" Bill Melton Buck Weaver
May 26, 200520 yr QUOTE(Cubs Suck23 @ May 26, 2005 -> 06:13 PM) Also the SS position is a tough choice Aparicio vs Appling
May 27, 200520 yr QUOTE(Cubs Suck23 @ May 26, 2005 -> 01:12 PM) I would have Larussa as the Mgr Can't go wrong with Tony, but Chuck's my all-time favorite Sox manager ( first one I remember from growing up ) so I went with him. I pity the kids who had Terry Bevington as their first Sox manager...
