July 13, 200520 yr QUOTE(danman31 @ Jul 12, 2005 -> 10:48 PM) Charlotte through Kanny all off because of All-Star Break/Game. Great Falls lost 8-6. Allen 2-5 with a HR. Richard with another solid start. Chirino got shelled. Updating box score Bristol got suspended due to rain. They trailed 1-0 through 2 innings. Brooks pitched. Box Score If Richie does good again in his next few starts, IMO it'll just be a matter of time before he goes to Kanny. Danman, do you think he's THAT good to skip Kanny and go straight to WS at this time?
July 13, 200520 yr Looks like we have a few guys making a mockery of the Pioneer League. Brandon Allen is putting up Barry Bonds type numbers. Torres has some nice stats, so does Rote and Richard. Which of these guys are age appropriate/prospects?

July 13, 200520 yr Allen is just 19, so he's a Solid prospect to watch.... (even though I hate rookie league stats) The others all have caveats. I would say that Richard is the best prospect out of them. He's supposed to have great stuff for a lefty. He was a back-up QB at Michigan.

Clayton Richard was a top-couple round talent out of Indiana HS and was a top QB recruit for Michigan. After not pitching for 2 years, he joined the baseball team after last football season as was so dominant he was their co-closer. Allen was an extremely raw HS kid out of Alabama who had a sweet swing, but not much experience or high-level coaching. BIG, yet runs like a deer. He was very solid at 1st base in Bristol last year and I am pretty surprised at the number of errors he's put up so far. Had a good enough arm to be an average RF-arm. Kid is going to take some time. They are taking a very similar path with him as they did with Chris Young.

July 13, 200520 yr QUOTE(MnSoxFan @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 12:03 PM) Allen is from Texas, no? Yep, you're right. Had the same brain-cramp last year. Montgomery, Texas... I always remember Montgomery and then just stick Alabama after it, LOL!

Which of these guys are age appropriate/prospects? rote was an 05 draftee, 5th round, drafted as a sr. outa vandy. righty with a power arm and control problems, but has torn it up with great falls so far. to be honest that league probably isnt as tough as the SEC though, so we'll see how it goes for him. i would expect him to be bumped to A ball by the end of the year
